We made our reservation months ago, checking in on 10/17. When we got to the hotel after a day of traveling we were exhausted. We had to interrupt the woman working the front desk from playing her game on her phone to check us in. She then tells us she doesn’t have us coming in until the next day. She then goes and gets some man, who told us that we were being moved to another hotel 15 minutes away for the night. The man never offered an apology, acted like he was doing us a favor by making us go to another hotel at 11pm. Someone at the hotel should have called to let us know that this was happening. When we got to the hotel they moved us to, the shower didn’t work. He told us we could check in at noon the following day, to call in the morning. So now we have to stop our vacation to pack back up and move back to the hotel we originally booked. We tried calling the hotel all morning and no one answered. We finally decided to go to the hotel at 12 and we were told the room wasn’t ready yet. They finally let us check in at 2. The next morning we go to take showers and there was what looked like feces on one of the towels. Absolutely disgusting.
The hotel itself was very nice, but the customer service was lacking the first night (and I’m an HHonors member). The woman working on Saturday morning was very helpful. If we’re ever back in town I don’t know that we would stay there just from our experience and pretty much ruining the first day of our very short time in Birmingham.
