"Stayed here recently and had a generally positive experience with a few notable drawbacks.
The room itself was spacious and very clean, which made for a comfortable stay. The bathroom was also well-maintained and clean, with no issues on that front. One minor inconvenience was that the hot water took a little time to come through, but once it did, everything worked fine.
The location is a major highlight. It’s in a great spot—very close to shops and within easy walking distance to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which made getting around extremely convenient.
Another plus is the staff—the employees were very polite and courteous, which made check-in and any interactions pleasant. The free continental breakfast was also a nice surprise—it’s actually pretty good and a convenient way to start the day.
That said, there are a couple of downsides to be aware of. If you’re staying on the first floor facing Foam Street, be prepared for noise. The rooms are essentially at road level, with the street only about 15 feet from the window, so you will hear cars passing by throughout the day and night. Additionally, the walls seem fairly thin, so noise from neighboring rooms—kids, conversations, and footsteps from above—can be quite noticeable.
Overall, it’s a solid option for location, cleanliness, and service, with a better-than-expected breakfast—but I’d recommend requesting a room away from the street and possibly on a higher floor for a quieter stay."
"While the location of this hotel was impeccable, it left a few things to be desired. First you cannot place an order at the restaurant to go over the phone you have to go there and wait for it to be ready. Second there were numerous stains on the sheets and even after requesting new sheets there were still stains on them. Lastly, the temperature of the shower was lukewarm at best. I’m not sure if it was because a lot of people were showering at the same time or what but we had to take very quick lukewarm showers. I will say that the staff was great and super helpful and the location was phenomenal but it is not worth the price "
"Simple and Clean property, Amazing location with nearby River. Quick drive to Sequioa national park, Bit expensive for a Motel. But cleanliness, Facilities are better than expected. Would recommend."
"AVOID THIS PROPERTY! I'm not one to write reviews, but people must be warned! We stayed in the "budget" cabin and had to check out a night early because it was so gross. The door to the outside did not seal, which let in a lot of bugs. The cracked front window from what looked like a BB was unnerving. The vanity lights and bathroom fan did not work at all and the lock on the bathroom window was falling off. The towels were so small that I initially thought they were the hand towels, and they smelled badly of cigarette smoke. They say they don't charge a cleaning fee, but the place really needs a deep clean. I was ghosted when I asked the host for a partial refund. "
"Shower drain had hair in it. Carpet tack strip with the nails was exposed on the floor in front of the bathroom. Surfaces were dusty. We chose this place based on the location but will not be returning."
"This property has so much potential! It's in a perfect spot and small enough to enjoy your trip without crowds. That being said, I'm disappointed that our room wasn't as great. Our shower had mold stains so we had to place a washcloth over it to feel comfortable showering. The room was dusty, including the bed's box springs under the matress. There was trash behind the dresse and the hangers in the room were also dusty and broken. There was mold in the document hanger on the room door that detailed outdated information about the facility. Had the room been better kept up our stay would have been great but we were not comfortable and worried about sleeping in the beds. "
