Overall, it's a great value. It's on the city shuttle route and is walkable to Browne Lane parking for the snow summit. Everything is spotless (only the shower curtain needed to be washed). My only issues were that the mattress was too soft for me, and I could hear people talking in other rooms—which was not an issue after 10 p.m. Parking is almost in front of your room - excellent - and could use gravel, so one is not stepping in mud. The lodge has an oversized lot and benches for enjoying the outside. I would stay again if I could get a room with a firm mattress and only one adjoining room.

This review is for the "cabin" rental, not the hotel with shared walls. Going into it we knew this was a budget location, so our expectations weren't high. To start with the positive, the bed was extremely comfortable and we got great sleep. The place is poorly constructed so expect loud and uneven 2nd level floor boards, not great lighting, 1st level bathroom with 2nd level bedrooms, super narrow staircase, loose bath faucet, no clocks' time match... this place could use some TLC. Oh yeah, and there was a hole in the exterior siding so there was a bird family living inside the wall of my kid's bedroom and it woke him up every morning because it sounded like a bird was flapping around in the room. My kid didn't mind... I guess it's charming? Having a full kitchen was nice, but it lacks the utensils and proper kitchen gear to really cook anything. We appreciated the field next door where our kid could play. Location is close to Snow Summit and Vons. Do I recommend it? If it's to save a few hundred dollars and you don't have high expectations and your wife is cool with it, then yes.

Spacious 2-room with kitchenette, fireplace and huge TV. Very quiet, sets back from highway, with walking trail behind location. Picnic area & BBQs on site. Just a mile from zoo and great Moonridge coffee shop. Supermarkets & restaurants within a mile. A wonderful find.

This is a lovely little rustic diamond in the rough. The property is beautiful and our apt type room amazing!! It was spacious, clean and nicely updated. The kitchen had everything. The front desk awesome and view great!

It was such a cute place to stay and very clean. It had everything I needed...microwave, large TV, large refrigerator, and a lot of little special items... such as very nice shampoos, lotions, and treats like popcorn, coffee and cocoa. I would definitely book it the next time.

Wonderful Stay at Goldmine Lodge Big Bear Lake
Goldmine Lodge was a great place to stay and so much more than expected. The outside was a motel design, but was really rustic looking and charming. There was a nice garden to sit in and watch birds (we came to Big Bear for birding) and barbecue grills. We had booked the Superior room for two with 2 double beds, but were given a wonderful upgrade. It was 2 rooms: on a 2 bed bedroom; the other a combined lovely rustic living room with open fireplace (wood available for purchase) and kitchen. The furnishings and design accessories were so cozy and charming and gave one a real mountain lodge feel. The kitchen was fully equipped with stove, refrigerator, microwave, dining and cooking utensils. There was a television with Roku in each room. The location on Moonridge Road is lovely and by the ski area. We would love to stay there again!

The cabin we lived in was very clean and well maintained. The property manager Sunmy was very courteous and tried to accommodate our requests. The property is surrounded by pine trees that gives a very quite and natural feel. We will certainly stay here again.

Spring break family ski trip
Our cabin was perfect for our family ski weekend. It was clean, slept 5 very comfortably, bathroom well stocked, kitchen spacious enough for us to cook many meals in. I would come back here again in the next years.

Was not aware the additional cleaning fee that apparently is on this website if you happen to click on a few links (not included in checkout price). This was a hidden fee in my opinion. Also the staff was not on-site and I had to rendezvous a time to make sure a person was there when I was. The place was decent but the same price as a better Best Western that was down the same block.

Nightmare
Where do I start? I did a one night stay with my family here. The front desk guy was not that friendly. We got the family villa, 2 bedroom and a queen pull out couch. Once you walk in you notice they added a wall, on the otherside of the wall was the front desk. Pull out bed was broken, it was snapped in half. No Access to the backyard. Bathroom was dirty The second bedroom does not have a door and all night you here scratching coming from the walls and roof. Around 3am we noticed there were birds chirping inside of the roof. Not sure what the scrapping sounds were from. The other bedroom had some weird hidden slide door that was locked from the outside. (Creepy) There was a lot of weird creep little doors. One of the people at the front desk allowed us to have late check out, while outside on check out day I was approached by a lady asking what I was doing..asking why i wasnt xhexked out. I had no idea who she was..she didnt say good morning or say who she was so I assumed she worked at the front desk. I told her we have let check out she pretended to know after she approached me asking why I was checked out. Pay attention to the reviews there are just certain places that are not worth staying for a little cheaper price. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN.

The lights in the dinning area didn’t work and in the bathroom sink we didn’t have cold water to wash our hands only supper hot.

There Is Better
My wife and I stayed at this hotel/cabin and we noticed that it wasn't as great as the other hotels we've stayed in near Big Bear Lake. The room was really dark and dingy feeling. The bed is definitely not a queen size mattress and the place got hot really quickly throughout the night. We barely got any sleep with how unpleasant it was to sleep. We definitely won't be staying here again.

We were pleased overall. Cute rustic lodge, comfortable bed and it was clean. The tv was a bit difficult to deal with, we were told that there was wood in the room for the fireplace, though there wasn’t any, and we weren’t told ahead of time that there would be an additional $100 deposit for “incidentals”. Providing that the lodge refunds the deposit as they said they would,it will be a successful trip and we would stay there again.
