Comfortable traditional hotel

Really nice clean comfortable traditional room. Friendly staff. Happy to serve in the bar till late. Slightly maze-like corridors and no lift if that matters to you. Breakfast wasn’t included which I hadn’t realised but that’s on me!

I had already read the reviews after booking so was expecting a Hotel that was tired and perhaps in need of some basic care. On arrival, we managed to squeeze into the very handy but tight car park at the rear. As we approached there were signs the Hotel was in need of some care, little things like the wooden window and door frames needing care or painting, small but noticable. The man on the small reception was really friendly however and was a credit to the Hotel. Our room was old fashioned and clean overall, but we had to speak to reception to ensure the carpet was vacced as it was covered in bits that clearly had not been cleaned for days and just looked a little grotty. The hotel however does have plus points. The staff were nice enough, and the building does have a certain faded grandeur to it, whilst the location is superb, being just one minure walk from the centre of town, I would consider staying again, but I wonder why it seems that so much of the Hotel seems in need of some care. Overall, we were pleased with our stay, I just hope that effort is made into fetching back some of its old glory.

Very run down inside and out. The whole building is grubby.The staff were unprofessional.The reception area was awful. Basically a desk in a corridor that was never manned.

Nice little town centre hotel

Excellent hotel. Room was nice, big bathroom. Ample carpark. Big breakfast room, bar, lounge. 2 minutes walk from town centre. Staff friendly and helpful when my room key stopped working!

Worst thing about this hotel was that there was never any one on reception, you always had to go searching for a staff member usually to find them talking to other guests and not even acknowledging that you were there for quite a few minutes. Secondly the shower was weak definitely no power shower

Anniversary night

A late decision and our preferred hotel was sold out. Was a little worried because had read bad reports. Our room was very big and had a massive bathroom. The towels could do with replacing and shower curtain. The hotel is dated and could do with a refurb. The communal areas were quirky and clean. The breakfast was fine. Not a great continental choice. The staff were really nice and helpful.

Front bedroom 2 on Main Street ‘Lairgate’ mostly heavy traffic noise all night long. Should have asked for room on the back. Room clean and well presented other than black mould on shower head and bed desperately needs new mattress and pillows more comfortable to lie above and on the quilt.

Outdated and dirty.

Sadly outdated and dirty hotel. The main member of staff we dealt with was excellent, and very much trying their best, however this was a disappointing stay. Our room was very dirty, with hairs in the bathroom and a dusty carpet. We struggled to sleep with coughing from the dust, and only when we asked the next morning for the room to be cleaned (my partner has very mild asthma), was the carpet vacuumed. I was also met with the response "did you tell us beforehand that you needed the carpet cleaned" - I didn't realise this was a special requirement. We also had another member of staff ring me up whilst at a wedding, telling me I hadn't paid for the second night. This was completely false, I paid at the time of booking. Not to mention the hotel seems to not have been touched since the 1970s. If you are in Beverley, just stay in the Premier Inn.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Firstly on arrival we were asked to wait whilst the receptionist finished her fish and chip take away tea. The room was dirty and smelly, furniture was mostly broken, damp and full of flys. The shower was full of mould and smelt dusty. If it wasn’t for use being at a wedding nearby we would have left. The room was not secure and did not lock with the electrical key card, sometimes it would others it would take 10 minutes to latch. When we approached the staff they blamed us having our phone near the key. From that point we’d taken extra care not get the card “confused” as they put it. This made no difference. The bar had very few options and when I requested a menu the porter shuffled and pointed to the old optics and bottles on the rear of the bar. Despite having a “do not disturb” sign on the door x3 occasions someone it could be staff but with the poor security who knows, wandered into the room.
