I was so impressed with the 10/10 reviews and the huge focus of car parking and breakfast that I booked this hotel; only to find that both of these involved considerable extra payments. Also no bar no restaurant, no air conditioning, and no room service is not 10/10. It would also have been helpful to have been told in advance that the route to the hotel involves more obstacles than the Grand National. There’s a secret passage that is only known to the locals.

This is noted on our record of the establishment.As stated in the details of our establishment also, we have no bar or restaurant because we are in the city center of Besançon with many bars and restaurants.Regarding the air conditioning, it is not yet active because we have about 15 degrees in the afternoon.For the parking, it is on reservation subject to availability. You could benefit from it when you arrived. The hotel is located in what it was to be a deposit of the mail office, which brings a lot of character and charm.

Great location, cozy hotel, very quirky. Rooms are tiny but adequate for a night or 2. Breakfast was expensive so we didn’t book it and went to a bakery across the street for amazingly fresh tasty pastry and freshly made tea and coffee for half the price of breakfast in the hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely will stay again.

A model for others to follow
I requested a step-through shower and I got it. The room was spacious by European standards. AARP would approve of the room appointments with room to move about, grab bars in the shower and by the raised toilet. A great buffet breakfast which helped me gain a few pounds.

A Worthy Selection
This is a very nice hotel located perfectly and centrally to restaurants, arts offerings, cathedrals and churches and shopping. The staff was terrific. They spoke English very well, but what I liked was their patience with letting me speak my French because I wanted to keep improving my French. Sometimes staff and merchants will switch to English, not out of being offended by the imperfection of ones use of their language, but out of a sense of being helpful and/or efficient and clarity of communication. The staff was also very helpful in arranging cabs, recommending restaurant areas, etc. The hotel room was very comfortable, including easily controlled temperature levels, and clean. The cleanliness and orderliness of the room was kept that way daily by the friendly housekeeping service. One small thing: hallway carpets seemed a bit stained in place, as if there had been a water leak, but the carpets were clean. I would absolutely recommend this property. I even liked its funky modern decor of the lobby.

Lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast very good but could do with more than one coffee making machine. Very pleasant room spoilt by flaking paint work on bathroom ceiling. Parking and location very good.

En route to the Alps
A very pleasant hotel in the centre of Besancon. We had an email from the hotel staff warning us that it may be difficult to get into the the city centre later in rhe afternoon , due to July 14th celebrations. Very thoughtful; very helpful. Our room on the second floor was compact, as was the en suite shower room. However, the hair dryer was excellent! The outside seating area, where breakfast could be taken in the rear courtyard was very pleasant though sadly there was no drinks service during the day. The car park is very tight if you have a large car.

The rooms are beautifully decorated, but very dark and not much natural light available due to the small windows. Some of the staff were smiling and friendly, but one male in particular made us feel like we were a nuisance every time we walked by. We were on a trip to see our daughter who is attending school in Besancon, and the location was great for the town.

High class hotel
Overall the standard of the hotel was excellent. Two quibbles. The breakfast management was poor - food running out and not being replaced, no spare cutlery. The bed was very hot - duvet was too thick.

The location is amazing and the looby looks cool but the room we had was a tiny little room (and teeny weeny bathroom) you could only just walk round the bed. Plus the room was terribly hot and on telling staff we were first told one of the air vents was broken but then further told the AC wasn't available yet as it was shoulder season, which in 25-28 degrees C meant sleepless nights. A shame because the location and look were great just practicalities not ideal in the visit we had.

Coming from the US, our stay at Hotel de Paris was simply amazing. From the friendly front desk staff, through the housekeepers, to the excellent amenities and futuristic bathrooms. It was a blast at very affordable prices. Oh, and did I tell you it's located on the main street in the heart of town and the business center? Two days of pure shopping bliss within ten steps of the hotel. My wife and I had visited last year and enjoyed our stay so much that we decided to return with some family and friends. We are already planning for our next visit to this city and hotel.

The hotel itself is reasonably good comfortable and has a convenient location in the middle of town. Our experience was marred by first impressions. We had driven for 7 hours from Italy and had booked parking beforehand as parking is limited. When we finally got to the hotel after going around the town several times, there was no parking available. We came across an extremely rude local man(hotel client) who would not let us park in the last available space. The hotel staff, I must add were very helpful in this situation and sorted the parking issue by late evening. Sadly, we were left with a bitter taste in our mouths,which affected our 1 day stay in Besancon.

Wonderful and peaceful hotel
The Hotel de Paris in Besancon is one of the quietest I have stayed in. The rooms face the courtyard and there is very little traffic in the old part of town so very pedestrian friendly. Wonderful cafes and restaurants on average 5 minutes walk from the hotel so lots of choices for dinner. Things to do: visit the Museum of Time as Besancon was known for clock and watchmaking, the Citadel has numerous museums and a zoo so perfect for families. If you like Peugeots then a short train ride to Sochaux will take you to the Peugeot Museum which is well worth a visit. Overall I highly recommend The Hotel de Paris and Besancon
