This hotel was previously the 4-star Taj Gateway, recently renamed Taj Vivanta with 5-star classification.
We are long-term Taj Group patrons who have always admired their standards. However, this property fell significantly short of expectations.
Facility Concerns:
The infrastructure is outdated with decor not befitting a 5-star property. More critically, we encountered serious maintenance issues affecting our health.
Both rooms had carpets below refrigerators that revealed strong sewage smells. On Feb 6th, my mom (73) and dad(80) experienced suffocating foul odors from the vent. Maintenance called at 12:30 AM acknowledged the issue but couldn’t resolve it and had to close the vent and run A/C at full blast with windows open before we could sleep.
Service Gap:
While individuals like Ikram, Neeraj, Rukshar (F&B), and Chef Antony provided exceptional service, there’s a systemic gap in training and standards. Staff showed willingness but lacked resources for 5-star service.
Value Proposition:
Rates have doubled to match 5-star properties, but facilities don’t justify this—I rate it 1 star.
For potential customers: I cannot recommend this hotel. It doesn’t meet standards even for a 3 or 4-star property. The sewage odors and ventilation present serious health concerns, especially for elderly guests. The conditions don’t justify any premium pricing. I hope Taj Group management urgently addresses. I am also upset Expedia didn’t do anything to fix this or hold partners accountable.
