Right in front of the property some of the best ice fishing around, coho salmon, lake trout, northern pike, brown trout...my wife only had to look out the window to see me.

We enjoyed the overall stay. There were lots of nice things to use in the office such as a sound machine. The only thing we didn't like was that since there wasn't anyone in the office checkout and in a a little awkward.

The hotel is located right by Lake Superior and there is a path to walk along side the lake, which is very nice. The checkin and checkout are more or less self service and convenient. One thing that makes me rate only 4 rather than 5 stars is that I think there are some extra charges in addition to what was shown on expedia when I booked the room. That was a little surprising. I feel that the pricing should be more transparent, since obviously we choose hotels based on a variety of factors one of which is price.

Beautiful trail behind the motel that you can use to walk into town. Rooms were clean and we had good service when we needed help with the tv remote. The outdoor chairs looking over the bay were a nice touch. Bed was not the most comfortable one I’ve had in a motel. Nice fluffy towels were great!

The cottage at Seagull Bay
The cottage was very clean and cozy. Less than 5 minutes from the quaint downtown. While not on the beach there were beautiful views overlooking Lake Superior. The steps were a touch steep to the loft, so not for the physically challenged. 2 beds in loft with plenty of pillows. Plus 1 cozy bedroom downstairs. Full kitchen minus a dishwasher. Great quality towels. Coffee maker, microwave, dishsoap, hairdryer, soap and shampoo in the unit. We didn't need anything else they had in the office to take back to our cottage. 10 a.m. check-out was our only challenge. Check-in is a 3 hour wi fow but we didn't run into travel problems so that was a nonissue. We would stay there again when we go back.

Great place to stay - even better view
This is my favorite kind of hotel to stay in - a smaller, family owned place that may be not as up to date as some others, but it had everything you need. The view is beautiful.

We stayed at the Bay West in the lower room. Place was clean and size was nice. Could use some updating in the inside, it was dark and carpeted like an old basement. Would have liked to have had the washer and dryer working as it rained the whole time we were there and kids went outside to explore the area. The staff kept in touch via text and were super nice.

Check in was terrible with grumpy lady not willing to help or answer questions. The room was on another sight with long steps needed to climb up the out side of the building. That was not covered in their add. Almost 90, my wife & I did not appreciate. No offer to give another room. Never again back there!

Great Vacation Rental with Large Deck!
Lovely brownstone cottage. Really a house with a beautiful deck, two bedrooms, kitchen, dining area and one and half bathrooms. Totally clean. Two small views of Lake Superior. Attached to the Brownstone Path along the lake for total view and exercise. Would stay there again for five nights!

Everything is on a steep hillside. Had to carry luggage around the building and down a sidewalk to get to the room. The lake view is alright but partially blocked by the trees and brush on the hill side. The room was built into the hillside and had a basement feel as well as a damp, old wood musty smell. The amenities were few. Small tv , 1 table with 2 chairs, fridge and microwave. I had reserved a queen bed room but the room had a full size bed. The plumbing seemed to work ok except for the shower head the was partially plugged. At over $200 a night this was a let down.

Great place to stay while in Bayfield
It's not the Waldof in NYC or a Hilton in downtown Chicago, you're in the Wisconsin North woods, in the center of the Apostle Island hustle and bustle!! My kids and I were not in the main motel but in the seperate Seagull Bay West building in the "Walkout". There were 3 bedrooms, a living room area, full kitchen and one full bathroom - small shower and even smaller toilet, but both functional. The laundry washer/dryer were out of service but we were only there for 3 nights so that didn't affect us. It was clean, quiet, safe, nice view of the lake and located right near town. I've been a Hilton Diamond member for 10+ years and would recommend this motel if you're in the area.

Good location. Very comfortable. Enjoyed the view of the lake and being able to walk into the center of town. Nice trail on the edge of the property leading several miles in either direction. Staff was very welcoming and communicative.
