A natural spa, this bay provides bathers with the exceptional and unforgettable experience of being washed by hot waves in the sea.

The Bay of Sorgeto is a charming cove that turns Ischia Island’s bubbling volcanic activity into a relaxing hot spring resort. Rock pools of varying temperatures dotted along the tiny, serene cove greet visitors with a natural spa treatment. During your visit to the Bay of Sorgeto, forget your worries as you swap between the hot and cold bubbling baths on the rocky beach.

Lay down a towel on a large boulder to sunbathe on this extraordinary little beach. Enjoy the stunning views of the ragged cliffs enclosing the inlet. Sit in a pool and let the hot water wash over you in waves.

Some visitors to this natural spa bring food, such as potatoes and eggs, to cook on the hottest of the pools. After working up an appetite in the water, go for a meal at the Ristorante la Sorgente. Enjoy your meal beneath an umbrella on the restaurant’s terrace beside the hot spring pools.

Climb up the narrow steps to reach the top of the cliffs and enjoy the panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the hot springs below. The surrounding mountains are graced with a moss-like layer of trees and shrubs.

The spa area is natural and public, making it free to access and open at all times. Keep in mind that the stairway leading to the beach contains roughly 300 steps, so the return journey is fairly arduous. Take care on the slippery, pointed rocks and make sure to wear appropriate footwear.

The Bay of Sorgeto marks the southwestern corner of Ischia Island, off the coast of Naples. The bay is by the quaint town of Sant’Angelo, just a 20-minute drive south from Forio. Travel by taxi boat from Sant’Angelo to the bay.

Discover some of the other intriguing sights in this region, including the Baia della Pelara, the Cava Grado Beach and the Thermal Park & Spa Aphrodite Apollon.
