Fantastic location! Great room ( double with balcony) excellent kitchen facilities making breakfast and lunch easy and hassle free. Staff went above and beyond to help us out when we found ourselves in need. Street below was busy and a bit noisy but ear plugs completely changed the game. We will stay agai.

The hotel was well located in the beautiful Gothic Quarter. Easy walking distance from the Universitat Metro station and Plaça Catalunya where the Aerobus stops.

Property was good for what you pay for. Definitely a busy neighbourhood at night so it is quite loud in the early hours of the morning. Good central location and friendly staff!

-Walking distance to restaurants -Close to airport drop off but not the pick up (needs to walk over 10 mins from hostel to Pl Catalunya stop) -Restroom/shower area is smaller compare to pictures -Wish it has a refrigerator -24hr shared kitchen is okay but it can be better -Overall great experience

Does what it says on the tin. Clean comfortable good location and cheap. Shower toilet separated from living sleeping area by sliding glass screen. Ok if you know each other. Not for first dates!

This is in a great location and has everything you need. The shared kitchen is stocked with coffee, breakfast, and snacks which was nice in the morning and during siesta. My only complaint is that the mattresses are pretty thin and I woke up with a sore back a few days.

Ridiculously small bathroom

Good location, room was nice with a good balcony. The bathroom was ridiculously small, with the shower and toilet the size of an airplane cabin! It also states there is a good selection of food in the common kitchen but it was very limited so don’t rely on this.

The place was acceptable. There was no reception in the building, you had to walk around the block to check-in or if you needed something. Cleaning was decent. I had a room with a balcony and the street was noisy. Bring earplugs. The breakfast is very basic, but it was available 24 hrs.

We're 2 seniors who enjoyed staying here!

We are two seniors who spent 4 nights here. Although our room was very small, it was well-designed. We spent our days as tourists and came back to the room briefly before heading out again in the evening. The location is very convenient for shopping, restaurants, and the flamenco show which we saw at the City Hall. We were able to travel easily using public transit. The bed was firm but comfortable. The room had very good lighting options, and sufficient electric plugs for charging our devices. As we were on the same floor as the breakfast area, the clatter of dishes could sometimes be heard in the mornings, but it was nice and quiet at night. We really appreciated the thoughtful extra touches including little gifts left in the room on our arrival. Overall, as budget travelers, it was a great choice!

Basic room that meets your needs

Room was very basic. Met our needs and great location for sure. But only one sliding glass door for the shower and the toilet. You can only have one side closed at a time. Which makes it a little awkward if sharing a room with someone. The balcony was awesome to have, loved it. But the sliding glass door for the balcony did not do a good job of blocking out noises from the outside. All in all, a good place to stay for the price and location. Would stay again.

The Expedia ad was misleading. I thought I was staying in a hotel ergo the name "Chic and Basic Hotel", however, the Hotel is also connected with a hostel. I was in a dingy hostel room right next to the breakfast area. It was loud in the mornings, there were cockroaches and mould in the shower/toilet area. Definitely spent the least amount of time there as possible during my visit to Barcelona. Nonetheless, the staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming.
