"Fantastic stay, lovely rooms and great service. We stayed in the Kreungthep wing which is a loooonnng walk from the shangri la wing main lobby but much closer to BtS and boat shuttles. Also it has its own pool and taxis come to that entrance also. One of my favourite places to stay in all of bangkok for convenience and service. Cant beat the location"
"Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing and has fallen well below the standards we would expect.
Our check-in initially seemed fine, however upon arriving at our allocated room in the building across the street, the issues began immediately. There was no staff present at the reception in that building, and when we exited the lift on the 7th floor we were met with an extremely strong and unpleasant damp smell which continued into our room. When the bellboy delivered our bags, we asked him if he could smell it as well. He acknowledged it and said he would inform housekeeping.
Unfortunately, the smell was so severe that it immediately affected my breathing as I suffer from asthma. We inspected the air conditioning unit and found visible mold inside it, which we have taken photographs of.
We then called reception to request a room change to the main building. After what felt like an unnecessarily difficult conversation, we were told we could move but not until approximately 4–5pm. We were informed that we would receive a WhatsApp message when the room was ready, however this message never came. We got into the room finally at 6pm.
The new room was better but averagely clean and loud from the outside noise. Around 6pm the following day we received an apology which was appreciated but felt delayed and fell deaf as all other staff members seemed not to care at the time until we sent a complaint.
Pros: wifi good, tv good, bed comfy, bathroom good

"The property is in a very cool area of town but it’s a dated hotel with a mildew smell. The hotel classifies itself as luxury but I would give it 3 stars at best. "
"My wife Lisa and I recently stayed at The Peninsula Bangkok while celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary, and it was one of the most memorable hotel experiences we have ever had anywhere in the world.
The hotel went out of its way to make the occasion special. During the Peninsula’s sunset cocktail cruise on the Chao Phraya River, we were surprised with a beautiful anniversary cake. When we returned to our suite later that evening, we found another extraordinary surprise waiting for us — an additional cake, roses, heart balloons, and a beautiful card created using a photograph we had shared with the hotel. It was incredibly thoughtful and deeply touching.
Beyond that, the entire stay was flawless. Our suite was elegant and comfortable, and every member of the staff—from the front desk to the river boat team—was warm, polished, and genuinely welcoming.
Even among the many luxury hotels where we have stayed around the world, the consistency of service and attention to detail here is truly exceptional.
We will remember this stay with great fondness and look forward to returning.
