This Motel 6 is in a terrible part of Baltimore and there were none of the usual supportive enterprises such as eateries or any such facility nearby. While sitting in my car I was panhandled by a street person. I don;t know if it is common to have to submit a "deposit" before going to our room but I had to pay $40 up front before getting a key to our room.
The room was clean but extraordinarily spare. There were no rugs, the temperature in the room the same as out door (48 degrees) and the only means of heating was a single wall attached air conditioner/heater which was inadequate to the task of providing heating.
The bathroom was clean, the bed was uncomfortable and there was a single blanket on the double bed. We slept in our cloghes because of the bitter cold in the room.
Do not go to this Motel 6. It is a miserable excuse for an overnight stay.
The water heater went out during our stay and it was more than two days for it to be replaced. That sort of thing happens. Close to good food options and public transportation on the city bus system, which was excellent during our stay.
It's pretty good for the price. Nice little hotel to book if you need somewhere to stay for a night or 2 without spending hundreds. Staff have been friendly so far! Allowed me to book another night without hassle after I slept passed check out time. They put my deposit towards the next night, which made it easy, too. There’s also an ATM right where you check in so yo can pull out money for deposit. Rooms are simple one bed, end tables, round table for eating or whatever it may be, small area for clothes, nice ac, good tv options, small simple bathroom. There may be damages which is expected in the area and at cheaper hotels but the hotel is clean which I believe is what matters most.
The room was perfectly fine for the price. I checked thoroughly and everything was clean. The onsite parking was nice, staff were polite.
Things to be aware of:
*As the other reviews noted, they do require a $50 *cash* deposit. The amount is specified on the Motel 6 website, but I didnt see it mentioned on any of the 3rd party sites, and the fact that it has to be cash isn't specified anywhere, except at the motel itself, via paper sign on the door. It seems like this is getting to be a more common practice. In any case, I got the full deposit back when I checked out in the morning with no issues.
*There's soap and towels, but no other shower stuff, so you'll want to make sure to bring your own.
ROACHES AND FLIES ALL OVER THE ROOM. THE WATER SHUT OFF FOR A FEW HOURS WITH NO NOTICE. NEIGHBORS/STAFF LOUDLY TALKING LITERALLY AT MY DOOR AT 8AM. THE LOT WAS NOT SHOVEL
Do not, under any circumstances, stay here. I knew exactly the type of place this was as soon as I drove in. I nearly gave them a chance but when I went to eat at a local restaurant, they confirmed my fears. This location is used for A LOT more than just a stay. Avoid entirely. There are other locations at the same or similar price that are significantly less dangerous.
To add insult to injury, they require a $50 deposit (cash only) and the transaction fee is $5. Everything about this place is trash. I just stopped for one night for work. Had to change locations.
The area is not very safe, the room had a very bad smell, it was a lot of insects in the room and the bathroom shower didn’t have a curtain.
I don’t recommend this hotel to a woman traveling alone.
The Indian woman at the front desk was rude and demanded $100 in cash extra.. after I pleaded with her to let me in early due to my injury and disabled feet.
Not only she refused but she threatened to call the police .This place is a huge dump.. full of drug attics and Gangster type hoidlems.. when I got there there was a small black guy urinating inside the entrance..she never gave me the room nor did she refund the room. I saw Gangster type youngsters giving her $100 bills. Stay away from this dump is dangerous.. ,gives motel 6 a bad and bad name.. it should be shut down..
