Balranald RSPB Reserve

I love hiking around Balranald where the machair meets the sea. The sandy soil of the machair is perfect for these wild flowers to thrive. If you go this time of year (Late July - early August) the summer heat helps the sweet fragrance to be lifted from the flowers and is gorgeous for your eyes and sense of smell.

A baby Oystercatcher running on seaweed that has washed up and started to decay on the beach.
This is a great place to hike around with your camera. Fantastic Wildlife here all seasons. There is a marked hike as well, which goes along the rocky sea with views of St. Kilda, along sandy beaches and across the machar.
