"Annexe to owner's house. We made the best of our stay, travelled around the lakes & enjoyed the hot tub. Property is clean and tidy. However, it seems to have been neglected of late, there are some easy changes which would have made a huge difference to the quality & comfort of our stay: Key code sent just a few hrs before check in at 4pm (we were already travelling & concerned we wouldn't be able to get in on arrival; a number of light bulbs need replacing (eg only ONE of the 4 cooker hood...

"Staff were friendly. Very good parking outside property. Breakfast was excellent. Good choice from cereal, toast, full breakfast and American pancakes with fresh fruit or bacon. Room was comfortable. Rust on bottom of radiator and no where to hang clothes in ensuite. Shower was good Otherwise lovely stay.Short walk into Windermere. Bus stops outside property"

"Everything was amazing. Great location and lovely staff. The view from breakfast and the terrace bar was great. 2 things to improve that really hot under my skin.... Breakfast wasn't great. And the hotel bar is extremely overpriced. We paid 10£ for 2 cups of tea (tea bag tea!!!) and alcohol and soft drinks also way over priced. If you book, just make a brew in your room and bring it down, it's the same tea!"

"A big old hotel about a mile off the main road, wondered where we were going to start with as you couldn,t see the building. When we got there it had such character nothing modern looking at all, the reception staff were very happy to see you . The rooms had real doors keys and were comfortable. The staff did there best to understand our food intolerances which enabled us to eat in the restraunt. All in all a very pleasant overnight stay. Thankyou Shap Wells Hotel"
