"Very relaxed, easy going place, great location, breezy view of estuary. It's a large room, nice furniture, bedding etc. Bar, very diversely stocked supermarket, resistant and coffee shop downstairs, means you have most things at your fingertips. Beach is 5-10min walk, as is boat hire, (all the fun craft available). I hired a kayak for an hour, very pleasant easy lagoon and estuary paddle.its a short walk from Aluthgama station. Bentota is over the bridge. "

"I stayed 4 nights and Riverbank Bentota and had a wonderful experience there. Although the hotel is slightly difficult to spot from the road, I didn't have trouble finding it. It is a short walk from the Aluthagama train station so great for people who are coming with the train from Colombo. The hotel is lovely and small so perfect for people who don't enjoy the huge crowds of tourists in some of the larger hotels. My room was very spacious and had a lovely high ceiling. "Firstly I have to say that I am totally unaccustomed to leaving negative reviews, but sadly I have to say "don't go" to this, no doubt once very classy, little boutique hotel. Before going any further it is worth mentioning that the staff (we only saw 3!) were lovely, extremely well meaning, and obliging. (We're guessing/deducing, severely let down by an absentee owner). Apart from the staff, the only other attribute was the superb position, overlooking and directly onto the river estuary....

"Essentially this is a serviced apartment and not a hotel or a resort. The rooms we were given was spacious with a sitting area, a fully equipped kitchenette, a dining area, a large TV and a Desktop [ who needs a desktop on a holiday?] The toiletries consisted of a sliver of a soap for 3 people!!! The property was managed by the driver [acting as a manager], with no front office / front desk. No passport details were obtained from us! Breakfast was eggs, toast, juice and and seasonal fruit...

Avani Delight.
"A very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Can’t fault anything. We were half board and there was an excellent buffet selection including freshly cooked and bbq to suit everyone’s tastes. For me I especially enjoyed the salads and non spicy dishes but the local breakfast I sampled was easy on the palate. Wish I could’ve sampled everything on offer. Loved the way the salads were presented in mini pots as well. We were given breakfast boxes on request to take away our pastries which was excellent. Enjoyed the sunset walks and there’s a shallow sheltered lagoon with soft sand underfoot and that was simply fabulous. Pool was lovely too. Room was serviced very well by Isuru who unfortunately wasn’t there when we left so hope he sees that. Very creative towel sculptures left on the beds everyday and lovely turn down. Thank you Avani! A most enjoyable stay. "
