Abraão Beach

Abraao Beach showing general coastal views, boating and island views
Embark on a boat tour from the wooden pier and relax at the tables of upscale restaurant spilling onto this beach.

Vila do Abraão’s main stretch of sand, Abraão Beach, is a sandy shoreline backed by bars and restaurants. The picturesque strand has wonderful views of nearby islands and promontories, as well as a long wooden pier. Enjoy the stunning vista of Ilha Grande’s verdant mountains as you arrive by boat at this beach’s wharf.

At night, the bars, clubs and street performers make the beach area come alive, as the sounds of drums and music fill the air. Several restaurants feature international cuisine. Wander along the pier and sit at the end, with your legs dangling over the edge. Gaze up at the clear night sky and look for satellites and shooting stars in the speckled darkness.

In the morning, take an excursion offered by one of the various tour operators on the beach. These include trips to other islands and scuba diving tours. Try kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, among other watersports activities, or simply admire the rows of colorful boats that line the shore or bob in the water. Enjoy a seafood meal at one of the restaurants and watch people and boats go by.

Stroll along the scenic beach and check out the cafés and hostels facing the water. The strand is about 1.9 miles (3 kilometers) long and has a horseshoe shape. Watch fishermen and tour operators working around the wharf.

Relax on a sandy spot with your friends and enhance your tan. Go for a swim in the Atlantic Ocean to cool down. Beach access is free and it is open to the public at all times.

Abraão Beach is the northeastern border of Vila do Abraão on the eastern side of Ilha Grande. Arrive by boat at Abraão Station from Angra dos Reis or other nearby locations. Visit other attractions in this area, such as the San Sebastian Church, Bica Beach and Júlia Beach.
