"A pretty hotel tucked away in a small alley in the old quarter. Typically Chinese. Rock hard beds and not very good shower pressure. Breakfast is very cheap with very little choice. No tea or coffee. Reception is friendly but little to no English. We stayed 2 nights and found a cheaper and much better place just outside the wall for the rest of our stay. Think that for $50 a night you can find better options!"

"A delightful boutique hotel right in the heart of the old city. The road to the hotel is pedestrianised with cobble stones, but the hotel sent a member of staff with a flatbed trolley to collect our luggage from the taxi drop-off point to the hotel. "Such a lovely comfy hotel. Had the best stay here for a few days, the staff were so so lovely and helpful, writing things out in Chinese for us and being so helpful with any questions we had. The room is comfortable and clean and the courtyard is so beautiful. Just a 5 minute walk to the South Gate in the ancient city of Dali so the perfect location and all at such an amazing price! Highly recommend! "
