Dear Samantha, Thank you for taking the time to write about your experiences whilst at The Lamplighter and was delighted to read of the positive elements to which you refer in your review. I am however so sorry for the issue that you faced with the heating in your room. My colleague did feedback immediately the points that you raised on check-out and I went up to the room to check. In the first instance the window was not properly closed, but the room was approximately 21 degrees and the radiator is very large for the size of room and was certainly hot to the touch as was the towel rail in the bathroom. Our beds are only 18 months old and are Hypnos, with matrass protectors, quilted toppers and the pillows and duvets are of a similar standard, age and quality. I actually have the same bed and accessories on my bed at home. That said I completely respect your opinion but this does highlight that everyone is difficult and I am truly sorry that the bed was not to your liking. Dawn, the lady that looked after you at breakfast that morning would also like me to extend her apologies for any inconvenience that she may have caused as this was never her intention and she was working on her own. Please once again accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused and I am only sorry that you did not bring this up immediately on your return as we would have been able to ensure that the window was fully secured and place a portable heater in the room. I can only hope that this point that we will be able to welcome you back in the future in order that we may endeavour to redeem ourselves in your eyes and if I may be of any further assistance to you in the meantime, then please do not hesitate to contact me. Dear Wing Yi, Thank you for choosing The Lamplighter for your recent and indeed for taking the time to write about your experiences. I am sorry for any disappointment with your allocated room as I can assure you that this would never be our intention as can be seen from the vast majority of the other reviews that we have. All of the rooms have recently been refurbished with brand new beds, carpets, decor and furniture. With us being an old Victorian building all of the rooms are slightly different and only loosely categorised. I am however delighted that you enjoyed the food and service offered in our lovely onsite bar and restaurant. I very much hope that we will be able to welcome you back to The Lamplighter and we would of course look to allocate an alternate room on that occasion if the previous one was not to your liking.
