"Had a great stay here. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. The traditional japanese tatami room was nice to experience. Kentaro went out of his way to make us feel at home. We missed a bus that only comes around every 2 hrs and Kentaro appeared out of nowhere in his Van, was like "Hurry get on!" and we chased down that bus. Good times! Thanks Ken!"

"Sankara was a perfect oasis of peace and tranquility on Yakushima Island. The service was impeccable. Everyone knew who we were and the villa we were staying at. So polite, gracious and helpful. The facilities were top notch and the spa was wonderful. We sampled the massages and facial treatments. Amazing experience. Dinner options were perfect. We were very impressed. My only complaint was the breakfast got a little repetitive and boring. We will definitely return. "

"We stayed in one of the bigger rooms with the outdoor bath. Only fits one at a time for adults but the deck and upper deck are beautiful. Room is overall clean, big and kitchen was great considering the island food opens late and closes early. A car is needed to access and anyone visiting Yakushima needs a rental car. I don't think it is possible to enjoy it as much without one after being there. The staff and owners are wonderful people and really treat their guests like gold. The tankan juice...

"The cottages are very cute and comfortable. Also the kitchen is well equipped. We made breakfast every morning. The owner of the property is very friendly, professional and helpful. "サーフィンのメッカです。早朝から夕方まで、誰かしらサーフィンを楽しんでいらっしゃいます。外海から来る波はちょうどいい波乗りのチャンスを与えてくれるようです。5月ー7月は、深夜に海亀も産卵に上陸するポイントのようで、ちょうど宿泊中に朝方浜に謎の紋様が刻まれており、近くに行って確認したところ、一匹の海亀が上陸した地点から直線で亀のヒレを前後ろに動かした模様が描かれ、産卵箇所らしき場所に大きな穴ができていて、そこに卵を産んだようなのです。産んだのちに海に戻ろうと、穴の周りを進んで、上陸場所から大きく半円を描いて海に戻って行った後が残っていました。そんな神秘な海岸の目の前に立つホテルです。夜、雲がなければ、本当の満天の星も堪能できます。素晴らしいロケーションでした。レストランのお食事も、地元、鹿児島特産の食材を美味しくいただけますし、普段では体験できないことが体験できる貴重なホテルだと思います。"
