Exceptional hotel, the only problem I had was the room was too warm during the day even with the air conditioning turned off due to glass windows and the sun (visited in December).

Not a bad second stay.
The hotel is generous with upgrades and breakfast, suite was large and comfortable, especially the bed. Furnishing is a bit worn out, especially the sofas and chairs. Overall cannot complain for the price and location for my work requirements.

Good range of services, opposite lovely park. A good walk to the metro but overall location suitable. Lighting in room was not user friendly and position of lights poor. Bathroom tired but great shower pressure. Request for non smoking but could smell smoke toward end of stay

hardwares are good. bath room is nice. most of the staff were nice room is too small, there was dust at bar, never got cleaned. the room I booked come with 2 breakfast, but on the restaurant record only showed one free breakfast, told to them for couple times, they never fixed the problem, for a whole month! swimming pool doesn't provide bath towels, we had to bring from our room.

The hotel was far away from 2 'nearest' metro station. Though the hotel provide free shuttle but the timing was very limited. The room was clean and huge and comfy. The shuttle driver, The concierge and the bellboy had provide their upmost excellent services & standard especially the bellboy whom i chatted with on 22 June Thurs morning while waiting for the taxi.

Good only for the convention center
The location is only ideal if you are doing business in that area. I was attending a convention at the nearby Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Centrer of International Sourcing. There are only 2 hotels within walking distance of the convention center. The nearest metro station is about 1 km away. There is a shopping center opposite which has a good variety of food outlets. However if you intend to visit other parts of Shanghai, this is not a good place to stay. Wifi was not reliable and slow

Nice business hotel near Shanghai convention cente
Chose this over the nearby Marriott because I wanted to try something different, more "local." Overall, it's a very nice hotel. The room was spacious and clean, and it had all the usual amenities: small but nice gym, nice sized pool and hottub, spa services, bars and restaurants. The restaurant serves a nice breakfast buffet, but note that the fare is very Asian (e.g., noodles, greens, various meats). The staff were very friendly, although spoke minimal English. There is a shopping mall directly across the street with Western stores like Starbucks, KFC, H&M, and Uniqlo. But it's not a very glamorous part of Shanghai, so there's not a lot of other interesting things nearby.

5 star hotel
Vacationing in Asia with husband and 2 adult teens. Had suite with a bedroom and Sitting area. was able to get 2 extra roll away beds into sitting room for kids. Everyone was very comfortable. Facility top notch. Manager gave us access to club room for snacks and drinks. Breakfast buffet was awesome.

GUOMAN SHANGHAI HOTEL SHOULD BE TAKEN OVER
GUOMAN HOTEL IN SHANGHAI IS VERY VERY DIRTY. THE CARPET IN THE LOBBY, ELEVATOR AND IN THE ROOM, DIRTY IS NOT A WORD TO DESCRIBE. BATHROOM FULL OF WATER STAIN. CLERKS IN THE HOTEL KEEPING CHATTING IN SHANGHAINESE, NO MANDARINE SPEAKER AND ENGLISH SPEAKER. IF YOU WANT TO SHORTEN YOUR LIFE AND RUIN YOUR TRIP PLEASE BOOK THIS HOTEL. THE LOCATION IS NEAR JACKEY CHEN GALLARY AND HIS RESTAURANT, WHICH ONE CUP OF TEA COST 80 DOLLAR, ONE BOWL OF RICE COST 20 DOLLAR. SURROUNDING BESIDES THE CHANGFENG PARK IS COOL, ALL THE SHOPPING MALLS ARE EMPTY, FULL OF FARMERS.

General impressions
The hotel caters mainly for Chinese clients and they appear to be pleased with everything. Breakfast therefore caters for the Chinese palate and there was not much European hot and cold food for this time of day. The executive lounge was good for breakfast and dinner and the staff there were most helpful. Changfeng Park is a beautiful Park in terms of flowers, shrubs and trees which surround a large lake.

We checked in guoman in April 28 till may 5th. When we check in no one told us the loudge bar on 17th floor will be closed during May 1st till 3rd. The room carpet is dirty, under the master bed has a used condem pack, house keeper forget to put shampoo & shower gel. When I ask her to bring me a set of bedding for the sofa, because my 4 years old son will sleep there, housekeeper told me that she is busy right now until noon between 12 till 1 she will deliver me. Besides the house keeping service, the breakfast is really normal doesnot comply with 5 star hotel. The two shopping mall near the hotel nearly opened every floor, very empty and quiet.WWherever you go have to take a taxi around 40rmb. Donnot waste your money to disappoint yourself. There is nothing similarity between guoman in london and shanghai.

Rooms are very nice and rates were decent. Staff were okay friendly. Make sure you go down to the lobby ahead of time to request for a taxi, as they do not have a taxi stand.

Close to Conference Center
Second time we have stayed at this hotel. This year we were given a free upgrade, due to (perhaps) a very busy Conference and some overbooking of the smaller rooms. Clean rooms, nice bathroom. The only negative was the hair drier was tricky to find, look in the bedside table in a black bag, and the really big challenge and outlet to plug it in near a mirror. Hotel is a little tricky to find but in a nice neighborhood, with plenty of shopping. Nice Chinese style buffet breakfast. Staff helpful, front desk recommended a very good Restaurant, food and price, across the street in the mall.

Poor Service at the Guoman
The facilities at the hotel were good, and the location excellent for my needs however the care taken by staff and level of service were so poor that it had an impact on every aspect of my stay. Ordinarily I wouldnt have thought the the hotel staff could have such an impact but from front desk, housekeeping, restaurants and room service the service was lacking. Certainly not what I would expect from a hotel that markets itself as 5*.

Great customer Service
We found the hotel staff very helpful, kind, attentive. Super WIFI in our very clean room - and afternoon fruit delivered! The location was okay for our needs, but some might consider it a drawback. It's a bit off the beaten path, and twice we couldn't get a cab to take us - even with the hotel's card. They indicated they didn't know where it was.

What a fabulous place
I started in the wrong hotel and wound up in the Guoman. Thank God. The Guoman was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. 5 star all the way. The staff was amazingly helpful, and friendly as can be. If you get the pleasure of staying there stop in the GB bar at happy hour and say hi to Sherry. She is a real asset to the hotel, and made me feel right at home. Thank you guys for your hospitality. I would go back in a minute.

Rooms are small compared to other hotels where I stayed in Shanghai. Breakfast was very disappointing. The staff hardly speaks any English. Difficult to catch a cab as the hotel entrance is not on a road.

In newly developed zone, 20 minutes taxi downtown
This new hotel is situated in a newly developing zone, near a shopping/leisure centre (not much going on there yet) and across a beautiful park with a lake. The park features canoeing and some marine attractions (which I did not see). There is a lovely pool and spa area. The price for a relaxing/therapeutic foot massage is excellent and I enjoyed it. When I was there the hotel looked only about 10-20% occupied. Breakfast was great though a bit expensive when not included in the deal (150 RMB). Dinner was lovely. The staff was helpful

Great, but don,t chance the buffet
The hotel is excellent, only one year old. Only two problems, we had dinner on our second last night in the hotel restaurant buffet. I became quite I'll afterwards, there is a lot of food on display, but very few customers, so it is dangerous. Can,t pinpoint it, but maybe the seafood or terrine. Secondly we checked out very early 6am, and there was no one to help us with our luggage, despite them knowing I had food poisoning and was quite I'll. Apparently, the porters don,t start until 6.30. I am now in London and still sick, 3rd day! It's a shame, as the hotel was otherwise very good value for money. It's a 20 to 30 minute taxi drive to the central city area. When they heard I had food poisoning, they didn't really want to know and did not enquire about my condition, despite having to spend the entire last day of our stay in the hotel room. Very hot in July, 38 degrees. If toy go to the water villages, avoid the taxi routers offering air con cars with dedicated drivers at the airport (Suzhou) they are clapped out vans and will spoil your day.

Very nice hotel in a safe area. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Did not have breakfast but did enjoy room service both for service and quality of food. Would definately stay at this hotel again!

Good service but bad location
The service is good. The location is far from all the major tourist sights. I didn't like the fact that the hotel has hidden fees for eating in the lounges in restaurants. The food is very over priced and you get charged a "sitting fee" for sitting in the restaurant/lounge in addition to a service charge. The restaurant was also out of everything that I wanted and I'm a vegetarian. They said they were sold out but I only saw one or two people at the most eating in the dinning room/lounge.
