The property was passable and to rate it as 4 star is a stretch. I didn't hate the room but the rating is misleading. The hotel was very, very outdated, there were huge spots on the carpet, the shower was SO slippery we had to put a towel on the floor of the shower. It just seemed old and kind of run down.

This property was amazing. It was close to a lot of attraction which was great since we didn’t need to spend a lot on rides such as Uber and taxi. The service was also great, very hospitable and helpful. Definitely worth staying here if your planning a trip to Rome!

Very good location within Rome metropolitan area, clean well-maintained facility, very comfortable room, staff friendly and helpful. Proximity to local tourist attractions, shops, restaurants and general walkabout was great. Would be my first choice on a return trip.

Front desk leaves much to be desired. Poor customer service. No respect to request by clients. Breakfast lowest quality. Bread two days old. Do not stay there. Noises on the walls are rats climbing up and down the walls. Wake you up at night. Not recommended !!!!

Main hotel building has clean, comfortable rooms, overall nicely maintained premises, roomy breakfast area, friendly helpful staff and great location for 'walkabouts'. Annex building (for guest overflow I expect) located a few hundred meters away has lower prices than main building but smaller, less appointed rooms and surroundings. I would stay at the 55 (main building) anytime. Nice place.

The walls are very thin between guest rooms and my room was next to the food prep room that is very noise from 6 am to 10 am. My room is on the 4th floor and the elevator didn’t work most of the time so you can imagine I have to walk up and down.

Nice room but the annexe is quite a walk from the main hotel. Also, we were on the 5th floor and the lift was out of use for decorating which we were not advised of in advance.

False advertising - be careful which room you book
The beautiful lead image of the church is on Via del Corso and is seen from the "annex" rooms only. However, the "Annex" is a different hotel called the Maison d'Art and is only a 3 star property and not a 4 star property like the 55. We arrived late in the night, it was pouring with rain and the receptionist told us we are in a different building (offered no umbrella nor help with luggage) and that the nearest parking is 15 minutes walk away. He made no mention that it's actually a different hotel a 5 minute walk away (which means it's not an "annex" either but simply a different property) After making it to the building that didnt have a reception or staff (you enter the building with a code) we found that the room was actually in the Hotel Maison d'Art with branded towels, signage etc which is a 3 star property (hence no help with luggage or umbrellas :) So be careful where you stay as this hotel markets itself for more than it is. Attached are photos of the other hotel branding to show that it's not the hotel that I booked and was led to believe I am staying at.

The property location was great! Very central to all things Roma... Biggest issue was the soundproofing of the rooms. Our neighbors were quite noisy and the walls were like paper.

The hotel was just a room. No lobby, the elevator was tiny so we had to use the stairs or wait. The beds were SO uncomfortable. Like sleeping on the floor. The only positive was the location but I would have paid to get transportation then stay there.

I should’ve listened to the reviews. Hotel was so misleading. Bathroom was horrible, shower has black mold… not acceptable!!! Make sure if you book you’re paying attention to if your room says Annex Building. That will be completely off the property and you have to walk 5 blocks to it. Super misleading. Paid $300 a night and it wasn’t worth a quarter of that. Only good thing about the hotel was the location. BOOK ELSEWHERE!

Wonderful hotel in brilliant location just off the ‘Oxford Street’ of Rome. Perfectly located for the main sites which are within walking distance, and the essential area of Trestevere.

Hotel 55 is located in walkable distance for first time visitors to the Rome attractions. Everything was in walking distance, However, the UNKNOWN of being asked to pay 108 euros (ONLY IN CASH) to the front desk employee was the first thing we were exposed to. We were told that we prepaid for our hotel on expedia and that we needed to pay 6 euros per person per day (9 days) for something ??? JUST BE AWARE!!!!!!

A Mixed Bag - Our Stay at Hotel 55 Fifty Five
Hey fellow travelers, Just back from a Rome trip and wanted to share our experience staying at Hotel 55 Fifty Five. The city is breathtakingly beautiful, and while our hotel stay was okay, it had its share of ups and downs. We were super excited to check in and see our room, but to our surprise, it was located in an annex building, a little 5-minute walk from the main entrance. It wasn’t a deal-breaker, but a heads up would’ve been nice! On getting to the room – it was on the petite side but notably clean, which we appreciated. Here’s where we hit a few snags though. The mattress definitely could use an upgrade – it was pretty saggy and made snagging a good night’s sleep a bit tricky. The AC took its sweet time to cool down the room, several hours in fact, and that shower wand was persistently leaky. A weird hiccup we encountered was with the room lock – it didn’t! Had to get a tech to help us lock it from inside during the night. Learned that one side of the key card locks the door, the other opens it – something the hotel might want to mention upon check-in, just a thought! If you’re on a tight budget, this place could work for you, but if there’s wiggle room to spend a bit more elsewhere, might be worth considering. For us, we’ll probably try somewhere new next time.

The perfect location, beautiful room with aircon and very central for anything you want to do or go to in rome. I have already recommended to two other couples and I have only been back in the uk for 24 hours

We enjoyed this property. With in walking distance of several places of interest and close to a few metro stations. We did get a room on the 5th floor and while it had air conditioning the unit was small and the room didn’t cool down very well. We were there in September and temperatures reached mid 90’s Fahrenheit. We did ask to be moved to a lower floor and the staff was very accommodating. The room on the lower floor was larger and the air conditioning unit kept up much better so it was much more comfortable

Don’t ever book this hotel. The staff here is rude and unhelpful and know nothing about customer service. Booking this place was the worst mistake I made for my trip to Rome. There are a hundred vastly better hotels with staff who care about their customers and are interested in providing good service instead of trying to rip customers of. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.

This property was horrible by far my worst stay ever. The shower would flood it was broken. The mini fridge was empty there was no vending machine to get beverages. The concierge service was awful we didn’t have one in our building. Also we were not aware we would be isolated and sent to another hotel, lobby didn’t mention that. Very on organized and no one there to help with any vip services. The hotel had the smallest elevator that bearly ever worked. There were no amenities on this property the room was so small. And the balcony didn’t even have a real table. Unreal experience would never come back. This hotel provides not help for tourists.

Great location, decent size rooms and plenty of dining options. Less than a ten minute walk to Trevis Fountain and Spanish step, around 20 from the Colosseum. High end shops are right around the corner. The staff were great and assisted us with all our questions and requests. A small grocery, salon and barber shop is just down the street! Just have to watch out for the taxi drivers who will try and scam you for more money! Would highly recommend this to anyone!
