Hey fellow travelers,
Just back from a Rome trip and wanted to share our experience staying at Hotel 55 Fifty Five. The city is breathtakingly beautiful, and while our hotel stay was okay, it had its share of ups and downs.
We were super excited to check in and see our room, but to our surprise, it was located in an annex building, a little 5-minute walk from the main entrance. It wasn’t a deal-breaker, but a heads up would’ve been nice!
On getting to the room – it was on the petite side but notably clean, which we appreciated. Here’s where we hit a few snags though. The mattress definitely could use an upgrade – it was pretty saggy and made snagging a good night’s sleep a bit tricky. The AC took its sweet time to cool down the room, several hours in fact, and that shower wand was persistently leaky.
A weird hiccup we encountered was with the room lock – it didn’t! Had to get a tech to help us lock it from inside during the night. Learned that one side of the key card locks the door, the other opens it – something the hotel might want to mention upon check-in, just a thought!
If you’re on a tight budget, this place could work for you, but if there’s wiggle room to spend a bit more elsewhere, might be worth considering. For us, we’ll probably try somewhere new next time.
