"I absolutely loved this ryokan. The pictures online do not do it justice; the property is even better in person. The staff were very welcoming. The meals were amazing. The property was bigger than I thought it would be. The setting was peaceful. It was exactly what I was looking for. My only recommendation is that the shuttle from the train station should have a sign with the name of the property. "

"This was our first stay at a rhyokan (spelling!)and we were blown away by the beauty, The comfort (personally I felt sleeping on tatami mats on a futon perfect). The attentive service was welcoming and spot on. We ate breakfast and dinner here and the local food was abundant, gorgeously presented and flavorful. We had a room with a private Onsen on a deck. Highly recommend. This was a unique, peak experience and I am a seasoned traveler. Do it. "

At check in everything was explained to me, how to get to my room, dinning, how to use the communal bath, etc. the kind lady who checked me in spoke fluent English which made things very easy! "Really nice hotel near the river in Kyoto. Room was very nice and spacious enough for 3 of us in a room. Modern design and has all the things you'd expect from a hotel room. Check-in/check-out was also easy, and staff are very helpful with any questions/issues like luggage forwarding, reserving something, etc. Has several of shops and restaurants nearby, and close to many locales like Pontocho Alley and Kamo River. About a 6-7 min walk to subway station, and closer for a bus stop. Only gripe would maybe be no coin laundry in the hotel, but there is a good coin laundromat nearby the hotel (2-3 min walk). "
