5/5 Excellent
Quaint, beautifully traditional ryokan experience
"Lovely stay at Yufuin. There is a free pick-up and drop-off options available from JR Yufuin Station which is a must unless you want to walk up crazy hills to get to the property.
The room we stayed had traditional tatami mats and plenty of space to lounge around before enjoying hot springs. This property allowed us to book a private bath free of charge, and also the public bath that is open til late which was convenient. There is also free Japanese kimono that you can wear during your stay. Many ryokans nowdays charge money to lend you kimono so it was nice that it was there free of charge.
We booked Japanese kaiseki-dinner as extra, breakfast was included already into our booking. The food is absolutely divine at this property - Hats off to the chef! The dinner and breakfast was well-presented by attentive and courteous staff which made the stay very enjoyable.
Thing to note of this property is that it is located in the mountains so there isn't much to do other than hot springs and a little walk around their courtyard. But it was perfect for us to have this quiet down-time during our travels. "
