We were 3 flights up, and the room was clean but small, and being an old building everything creaked, we were facing the front on a busy road, but the owners were nice, it was just cramped and you could hear the people next door going to the toilet.

A good stop over in Penrith!
Not too difficult to find (opposite the ESSO filling station), parking is on the pavement in front of the building which is unusual but OK. We were allocated a family room just for the two of us which gave us more than expected space! Rooms were comfortable. Breakfast was cooked to order and was tasty.

A lovely stay.
The hosts were friendly and knew the area well with recommendations for places to visit or go to eat. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean with plenty of hot water available in the bathroom. The breakfast was delicious. Good value for money. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would love to return on a future visit.

Nice little guesthouse with friendly owners
We stayed at The Acorn with family & friends. The owners were lovely, really helpful & friendly. The bedrooms were newly refurbished and the beds lovely and comfortable. Breakfast was great if you like cooked breakfasts, if you prefer continental/cereal/yoghurts etc, it’s limited. There is also free parking

Nice and clean. Room was set up nice. It was about a 10 minute walk into town. Would stay again. We missed out on breakfast as slept in so can’t comment on that.

Everything is ok except bed and breakfast. Bed : two single bed were combined and mattress was so thin and soft so was not comfortable Breakfast : it was ok but I was bit shocked that I checked one of assortment mini small jams, a black current one and it was used by other guests. The sealed lid was already opened when I tried to open and nearly empty which was used by other guests.Really bad and not hygienic

Gordon was a lovely host. We arrived about 40 minutes early, and he allowed us to check in straight away. The room itself was lovely (we stayed in the King Ensuite). Very spacious and tidy. The breakfast was lovely, ideal to fuel us for our day of walking.

After a very very long day I arrived at the Acorn Guest House around 6pm to be greeted by a very happy, smiley Gordon (host). Nothing was too much trouble for the Acorn Guest House even ordering my evening meal (Covid restrictions) from a local take-away and making sure I had everything I needed for another very early start the next day. I will definitely be staying here again should I be in the area. Thanks guys,

The owners made our party very welcome and took the time to speak to us about things to do in Penrith. The B & B was spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and an excellent breakfast.

Our hosts were lovely and so accommodating quickly rectifying an error that I made with booking. Our room was very comfortable and large as the two of us shared a family room. I was concerned at first about being right on a busy road but the traffic practically stopped and it was actually quiet. The location is within easy walking distance of restaurants and the central square. Breakfast was lovely and our hosts were charming. I would gladly return and I highly recommend the Acorn Guest House.

This was our second visit to this venue and the welcome was as good as the first. The owner and staff were very helpful with recommendation for a restaurant (they are B&B only). on departure as it had snowed overnight the owner cleared the car of snow and made sure the route out to the carpark had been gritted to prevent any slips.

we went to a party across the opposite side of town, hosts offered to collect us to save drink driving. they were very helpful with directions. we would stay there again, had no complaints. excellent breakfast

Overnight stay - superb.
Very comfortable B&B with everything that could be wanted. bottled water in the bedroom with hot drink making facilities. The whole B&B is very comfortable, immaculate and well maintained. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and there was a good choice of cold items too. The owners Nick and Karen are marvellous and could not do enough for me and even gave me a lift back to Penrith Station. I would thoroughly recommend staying here, lovely place, good food and good company.

Great one night stay in the family room
I had booked the family room for a one night stay with my wife and daughter. The family room actually has two bedrooms, one of which is a double or twin and the other is a twin with an en-suite. Finding it was easy enough and we pulled up to the free parking around the back after which we went to the front door and were greeted by Nick. He quickly got our key, checked what time we wanted breakfast and showed us to our room which was nice and clean. He gave a brief tour and then offered to help me bring in our bags. There were plenty of tea, coffee, milk and sugar by the kettle, fresh water and some biscuits. The en-suite was accessed through the children’s room which can be a little bothersome but we just ended up sneaking through when we needed to use it and didn’t wake our daughter. It had a bath/shower with good pressure and a shower gel dispenser on the wall. The walls seem quite thin so we could hear next door and above us a bit more than normal but it didn’t stop us sleeping well. I tested the free internet at 10 Mbps down & 2 Mbps up. When we went down for breakfast Karen came to take our order for an English breakfast which was very nice and there was also a continental selection which was also good. Overall a very nice stay and if we were in there area again I would look here first for availability.

My first concern on arrival was the BnB's location on a busy road. I shouldn't have been worried. There was no traffic noise in the room. The room was clean and had good water pressure in the shower. The hosts were helpful and pleasant. The BnB is licensed to sell drinks to guests which was a welcome surprise. Five to ten minute walk, to an assortment of restaurants.

Everything was great, the owner was so helpful and acomodating. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble as the owner stayed up late for our un-timely, early hours, arrival. The atmosphere in the guest house was very friendly and the food delicious.

Stayed for one night after participating in the Total Warrior event. The couple running the guest house were very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were nice, breakfast was good,especially considering the price. Would definitely stay again.

Comfortable stay. Spotless, well appointed room. Good breakfast. Perhaps a ten minute walk from both train and bus stations. Very friendly hosts. Popular with cyclists - it's on the coast to coast route. Would stay again.
