The hotel staff were great, I think there is just some maintenance/repair pains at the moment in the building/area and with older tech being used in the hotel.
Some examples of this are:
- Only one of the elevators was working for several of the days we were there, because of ongoing construction
- My daughters room was not adjacent to mine, despite both rooms being booked at the same time
- The rooms were not the same despite both being the same price (One had a balcony, one didn't)
- The AC did not work correctly in one of the rooms, so one room was ~27 degrees and the other ~21 degrees
- We had to get new key cards several times because having them anywhere near magsafe phones wipes them, there are no NFC or app-based access to the suites
- The elevators were often filled with construction crew from the ongoing maintenance
- No complimentary breakfast of any kind
- The path to the entrance of the hotel is small and poorly maintained
- The entrance to the hotel doubles as the entrance to the terrace restaurant, making getting in more difficult than it needs to be
Despite all of this, I loved my stay, and really enjoyed my time in Old Montreal. Resolving some of these issues would have elevated the stay from great to phenomenal
