"First, this is a historic hotel, and visitors should be aware that the rooms reflect the historic vibe. If you want modern, you need to stay down the street at the Hilton. The rooms were very cute and clean, and the tiling in the bathroom was beautiful. The hotel has a prime location with easy walking access to the Grant Park and Museum Campus areas.
General maintenance could have been improved: 1) the room had obviously lost power at some point in the past, causing the mini fridge to thaw, leak, and damage the shelf on which it sat, and 2) the faucet in the bathtub dripped consistently and the shower drain was minorly clogged, preventing it from draining completely while the shower water was running. These were, however, very minor issues.
My biggest issue was the noise. It's a historic building, but that doesn't mean it needs historic windows. The windows might as well have not existed for as much street noise as they managed to block out. I was grateful I traveled with earplugs, because if I hadn't, I would not have been able to sleep. Between sirens, engines reving, and people randomly screaming, if you're someone that needs quiet to sleep, this is not the place for you.
It would also be nice to have modernized room AC units. Be aware that the units here cannot be adjusted in the room.
All in all, a decent stay... But I doubt I'll be back unless they make a big announcement about new windows."
