Our experience at Kill Devil Hill Hotel was a mix of highs and lows. Initially, the room we were given did not match the pictures online. The carpet was wet and dirty—so much so that a baby wipe used on it turned black. The bathroom had noticeable rust, and the shower ceiling appeared sloppily caulked. Additionally, the toilet bottom was dirty. Dealing with the front staff to address these issues was challenging, but eventually, we were moved to a cleaner room, which was a relief. On the positive side, the breakfast was reasonably priced and the food was very good. Both the cleaning staff and restaurant staff were very professional and courteous, which enhanced our experience despite the initial setbacks. In summary, while the initial room and front desk service left much to be desired, the subsequent cleaner room and excellent breakfast service partially redeemed our stay.

The property was great but there was a really bad smell in the room and the hallways (illegal drug smell) also the construction was very loud early in the morning. The hotel and area is amazing, but the smell was terrible and construction made our morning really bad.

The view was amazing and being able to access the beach was nice. We had an issue with the air conditioner, the staff replaced immediately with a new unit. Very attentive!

The floors in both rooms was filthy. Rugs were sticky and dirty and the tile was dirty. Room was close to the elevator and could hear the elevator signal at all hours of the day and night.

We enjoyed our stay but the hotel is old. The room had a musty smell, the bath tub had rust spots and black marks. The bathroom was dated and there wasn’t a handheld sprayer in the shower which is nice if you’re a woman. To access the balcony (we had an oceanfront room), you have to open an exterior door and step over a tall threshold. For the price of the room I did expect something a little nicer.

Well… the room had a weird odor but that’s probably because the stench of weed through the property is overwhelming. Aside from that, I got an infection from using the shower there. The pool is extremely loud with kids screaming and the pool deck smells like dirty mop water. And this is after the remodel. If you are desperate for a place to stay, this works.

This place was almost like a resort. Everything you needed was there. You didnt need to leave for anything. Friendly staff and very accommodating. Very reasonable meal prices. Would definitely go back there.

We really enjoyed the sun deck; the pool looked nice as well, and we spent time on the beach. Each and every employee was courteous, helpful, and welcoming.This was very important and appreciated.The hotel is, it seems, being updated; our room was not yet updated, but it was clean and neat.All in all, we were pleased and enjoyed our visit. We plan on returning.

Had a ocean front room. Room and property can use a renovation. It was happening during our stay so im guessing they are working on it. The hot tub was hot one day, not another and then hot again the next day same with the pool there ware days it was nice and days it seemed cold.The girls at the front desk are wonderful helpful and have great recommendations for places to visit and where to eat since there isn't that much to choose from at the hotel.

The desk clerk when we checked in wasn't very friendly, she also had an attitude about moving us from the dog floor (1st floor) to any other floor. But she finally did move us. I just felt like it was an imposition. Wait staff was great, so was housekeeping. We had to check out a day early, as my roommate had a terrible headache and wasn't feeling well from being awakened so often during the night from the folks in the next room. When we checked out Saturday morning, the young man at the front desk said he would make an exception that we were a little past 11:00 (checkout time) and refund out 1 night charge and email us the receipt. After the same lady (from check-in day) returned she told him ahe couldn't do that since we used Expedia and to take it up with them! I have tried to reach a human at Expedia but have been unable. Please advise me how to proceed with a 1 night refund. This concerns me that hotels have a bad attitude about people using a 3rd party service. Thank you for following up and I hope to get a response from you soon.

Plumbing issues. Shower would not drain and issues with toilet flushing. Upon arrival staff was NOT friendly at check in. Hot tub temperature adjustment broken. Water was colder than pool. Entirely too many children in hot tub. Did not have a complimentary toothbrush. Never have I stayed at a hotel where basic necessities were not complimentary. Carpet was dirty. First and last time I will stay at a Ramada.

We appreciate your coming and visiting here on the Outer Banks. Our property does provide basic toiletries such as: soap, shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, and make up remover pads. For other items outside the norm, we have a sundry shop in the lobby for any items which may have been forgotten by guests when packing. I did find the maintenance request about the slow drain and that maintenance did take care of this issue soon after they were alerted of the issue. Unfortunately during the time period you were here, we were waiting on a part to be shipped so that the hot tub could be repaired. So we are sorry that it was down during that time period, but hope that you were able to enjoy the heated pool instead. We do hope that you would afford us the chance to show you the great service that others have experienced while staying with us in the future.

The staff was great excluding the Onsite Manager, Allie I think her name was. I had stayed there for three nights and needed to extend my stay one more night. She refused to allow me to use my business cc to add the additional night stating that she could not risk it because she didn’t know if it was my business card. Well this is the same card I used with Expedia and the same card I used for the deposit at the hotel. It wasn’t like I was some random coming in off the street….

They are doing upgrades on the hotel which made it a little noisy. However, maintaining occupancy while doing upgrades and only a small inconvenice is a tribute to the hotel and staff!

It was Beachfront and pet friendly, however all pet rooms were on the first floor with dune or parking lot view. I initially wanted to book an ocean view, but that was not possible with my pup. There was no real grass or nice place for the dogs , except a sandy area at the end of building. Compared to the hotel next door that had a nice grassy and fenced in area. Room was smaller than it looked in pictures. The hallway at entrance was very narrow and the barn door at the bathroom was useless: if you closed it, you could not open room door. Very poorly designed. Shower pressure was very low and drain must have been partially clogged because by end of shower the tub was about a quarter full of water. Lamps were very old without usb. There were no usb ports. Heater was very loud and annoying at night. Breakfast was average , at a reasonable cost, eggs were not fresh, but from the box. Restaurant was ok for dinner, but we only went there once. Not too much variety. There was a back door in the room that opened to the dunes: it was cold outside when we stayed and there was a very cold draft coming in: we had to put a towel at the bottom of door to block some of the wind. Pool and hot tub were nice. Overall, not a great stay: I would not book here again.

WOW! What a great place. ALL staff have been super nice and friendly that we have encountered from check in to housekeeping. Everyone goes out of their way to be kind, answer questions and be helpful. This hotel is very well maintained and has all amenities one could want. We will be coming back!!

The staff were professional and attentive. While our room was not ready when we arrived, they provided us breakfast vouchers for having to wait - a nice and considerate touch. When we had an issue with the toilet leaking, they had maintenance fixing the issue within 10 minutes. All my interaction with staff was very pleasant and congenial.

Stayed her for 6 days and absolutely loved it. When we arrived I was overwhelmed with how clean and good everything looked around the hotel and inside the room. The area outside with the tiki bar is amazing and the food in the hotel is to die for. The breakfast they served everymorning is all you can eat for around 10$ a person. The over easy eggs I had everymorning were perfectly cooked All the drinks were amazing as well. 10/10 would stay again !!

Lobby and staff were amazing. Had a joining room which is highly not recommend. Unfortunately, we had very loud neighbors. Room had strong smell of paint when first walking in, but the room was very clean. If you like a firm mattress, then you will sleep like a baby and the pillows are very comfy. Overall I would stay again, but just request to not be in a jointing room.

We loved the indoor floor plan as well as the outdoor decks facing the ocean. The room, the indoor pool, the breakfast as well as the customer service was fantastic! We are planning to come back for a whole week next time. We love it here!
