I loved the stay minus hpusekeeping knocking on my door and trying to enter at 830 in thw morning and then again at around ten when checkout wasnt until 11

Check in was easy and staff was polite and efficient. I booked the least expensive room in the area last minute so expectations werent high. It turned out to be a nice and comfortable room with plenty of space. Interior was great and location was nice and conveniently close to downtown and several good food options. The room is located directly off a cement parking lot with no windows out the back so there is no view and nothing pleasing about the setting. It is great for a comfortable place to sleep.

It was quiet and the location was convenient. Check in was courteous and quick. The room, while very dated, was clean and linens were fresh. However, it took many minutes to get hot water to the faucets and it cooled off quickly when shut off, a real bummer on a cold night. The shower/tub is in need of major repair, with substantial staining and general poor maintenance. The vanity sink stopper would not stay closed. Heating is by electric baseboard. Room was slow to warm up but was finally comfortable through the remainder of our stay. WiFi is supposed to be available but we were not informed of it at check in. Over-all, we felt we were over-charged for the level of quality of the room.

Overnight in John Day.

Our room was quiet and clean. Bed looked good, but was a bit on the hard side, so woke up stiff and sore. Located close to the pub and restaurant. Great channel selections on the TV. Pillows need to be changed, they don’t smell fresh.

liked that you were able to use normal keys for room (not keyless) shower difficult to operate kept shutting off when trying to adjust, small lower desk, poor internet connection. Difficult parking due to over size vehichles

Very quaint - very outdated but clean. No frills. Ok if you're in need of a place to stay. Big refrigerator with freezer came in handy for our drinks and foods.

Always a good stay

The owners are continually working to improve the facility. Rates are modest. Very good customer service. I have stayed here over the years whenever we visit John Day.

Awesome motel

As a motel it was a little outdated - but it was extremely clean and comfortable. I will take the out datedness for a clean , comfortable stay. Service was impeccable - and great recommendations for dining. I would recommend this motel for anyone who is coming thru John Day.

Okay if you're broke.

This place wasn't terrible but if you can afford to stay elsewhere, you should. Room was clean but small and outdated. Bathroom door stuck really badly and bathroom was tiny. No A/C, just a window unit. We did like the parking lot for our motorcycles, and The Outpost restaurant (adjacent to hotel) was REALLY good and affordable. I would not stay here again.

It was not a dream

We left without staying. It was a mix of very outdated nostalgia. People were smoking outside their rooms, it smelled of cat pee. How this was rated a 8.2 was totally crazy. I’ll never trust this hotel rating system again

This is a sweet, clean, friendly and convenient-to-everything in John Day hotel. Yes, the hotel is a bit dated, but it’s a great place at a reasonable price and my bed was sooo comfortable. This definitely a good place to stay.

Very Comfy Room in John Day

This was the room we wanted, with the blue Lazyboy just like my hubby's favorite chair at home. This room also has a real Planes, Trains, and Automobiles vibe, which we loved. The bed was comfy, the fridge was roomy, the AC was cold, if not LOUD. The place is dated, but well loved. We stayed in nicer hotels that we were less comfortable in. Our biggest complaint was not having two end tables for a King size bed
