The room was fine for just sleeping. The outlets were not working well in our room, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. However, at night, there was a man yelling and swearing outside of our room. We were not sure who he was exactly yelling about, but it appeared to be some sort of domestic issue. In the morning we tried letting the front desk know, but there were no staff to speak with..

Most of the motels in Ely are old structures from the '50s and perhaps even earlier. The owners of the Magnuson have done an excellent job of refurbishing the room. It was clean and tidy and the carpet looked new. Internet access is a little difficult but that's true in Ely generally. The TV kept fading off and on again it may be the issue with dish which is not of the owners making The water was lovely and hot. They had a large assortment of items in case you forgot them including small packets of toothpaste. I would definitely stay here again on my occasional trips into Ely

Do not trust the glowing reviews. This is one of the worst motels I've stayed at of nationwide travels. We expected outdated for $87 but not a room that appeared to be in no condition to rent. The subfloor was rotted, bulging in places and severely uneven. The rotted wood cracked anytime we walked around the room. There were no baseboards and gaping holes between the carpet and wall and we couldn't help wonder what creepy crawlys were coming through there and getting onto the bed skirts that dragged on the floor. Beds and springs were shot and creaky. Bedding so old and threadbare that you could see through them, blankets scratchy, tv and ice machine didn't work, and the whole room was in need of a deep clean. We would have slept in our vehicle if overnight temperatures hadn't been below freezing.

The parking lot was a real mess and the area sketchy. I didn’t see any security cameras either. Discouraging if you have stuff in your car. The office was supposed to open at 7 AM for continental breakfast but at 7:15 the door was still locked. I just wanted coffee and finally at 7:30 someone showed up but I assumed they would have to make the coffee, so I just went across the street. Otherwise it was clean and there is an attempt to update the place. The bed was comfortable.

The staff is friendly and the room is older but clean and sufficient. They put out plenty of choices for breakfast and are always helpful. The room we stayed in was fairly large and quiet. The price was very reasonable and we will stay here again when we come through.

This was a surprise. The low price led me to low expectations but this is a little gem for a one night stay. Interior was clean and in pretty good shape. Breakfast was adequate and staff was very pleasant.

Worst hotel ever, not even open.
The hotel wasn’t even open and the website still allows me to book a non refundable reservation. Furthermore I was met my a strange guy claiming to be the managers boyfriend who then threatened me when inquiring about a refund.

The hotel was closed on arrival due to a computer malfunction I was told so we were sent to another. The television was not working in the room we were assigned, so we had to switch rooms. The attendant was very apologetic, kind, and helpful under the circumstances, which we appreciated very much. However the bed was comfortable and everything worked. I would not risk making reservations again at this facility again.

Room was dirty, outlet for heater looked burned, only one towel in room with two checking in, slow flushing toilet, TV had no signal, no WI-FI code, no one ever in office on location (left me an envelope taped to door with room keys), ice machine didn’t work, no continental breakfast or even coffee or water. They have another hotel across and down the street a bit that had an attendant that was finally able to help. He was nice but everything there SUCKED! Would NOT recommend! EXPEDIA should take both of their hotels off their list. Way too much money for nothing!

Terrible place; the power outlets, TV, and interior lights didn't work. I was completely wiped out from a very long drive and didn't have the energy to pack up and change rooms, assuming it was even possible. The only good notes: Front desk person was very friendly and the bed was comfortable so I had a nice rest. All in all not worth the cost at all.

I was looking for a hotel without smoke and that's why we stayed here. This hotel has two locations and there was a sign on the door to go down the street to the other location to get checked in. The parking spaces are very small. The Wi-Fi didn't work, the TV didn't work and the shower didn't drain well. The ice machine was broken. Traffic was loud because it's so close to the street. The bed was somewhat comfortable and clean. There was coffee in the room but no cream or sugar. If all you do is sleep (like the dead) it's okay.

Convenient and clean
We arrived after 8 p.m. The office was closed but an envelope with my name on it, and keys in it, was taped to the office door. The room was clean. Nice that we could park in front of the room making it easy to carry luggage in. Met the staff the next morning. All very nice.
