Good times
The owner was very kind,friendly and informative to talk with. We had a very nice and comfortable time. Beautiful grounds and scenery. Look forward to returning next year. The fire pit was great with the other folks gathering and chit chating till late. Nice!

Great place to stay!
Love staying at the West Winds! The staff are super friendly and always helpful and the place is well taken care of. The only thing I wish I could change are the size of some of the bathrooms in some of the rentals. They’re pretty tight. The bed we recently had was really firm and not comfortable for me much, although we generally have very comfortable beds so, likely an isolated incident. Overall great place to stay with swimming, fire pit, etc. right on the grounds.

So happy with our stay
Every employee I interacted with and the owner were incredibly friendly. The cottage we stayed in was cozy and comfortable and had a great view of the river. My daughter and I stayed there and both loved it. She especially enjoyed the pool and walking down to the river.

Great place for a family vacation
The only cottage left when we made a reservation was called The fisherman's cottage. West winds contacted us and let us know that the fisherman's cottage was near the laundry. And that we might hear some noise early in the morning. There really was no disturbance. The cottage was supplied with dishes, a hot plate, fry pan and saucepot. We had a great time, and were welcome to bring our family members who were in the area to visit at the community fire pit or at the cottage. It was clean, and comfortable.

Cuteness with a great view
A small family run motel on the St. Lawrence River. The staff is very friendly and work hard. It’s full service which is nice so you get new towels every day and your bed made every day. If there are any draw backs to this place it’s the size of the room. I understand that it’s a motel but even for a motel the room is quite small. The bathroom is also quite small as is the shower. It’s very difficult to turn around in the shower. They do have courtesy room with a microwave and coffee which is a plus as well as a campfire at night which give you an opportunity to meet the other guests. I probably won’t go back only because of the size of the room. The price however, is great and could possibly persuade me. Overall it’s worth the stay

Hi Jacob,Thank you for the nice words and kind review! If you do come back, check out our rooms with 2 queen beds, rooms 71-12. The are much larger, have counter space in the bathroom sink area, and have a 6 drawer dresser with desk and chair as well! :)

Quite large room, bathroom renovated recently. I believe the water in the area creates a different odor which is not that pleasant, but that can't be avoided. Great stay, would definitely book this motel again.

Hi Shirley, West Winds is not for everyone. We do have brand new furniture in all the motel rooms including new leather recliners. The hotel downtown is probably your choice at 3-4 times the price.

The property is very nice, clean and staff was very friendly. They have a beautiful view of the St Lawrence River on their dock. It was conveniently located close to the Village of Clayton which is a beautiful place to visit. There is a pool and fire pit on the premises. we were never bothered by neighbors once. I like walking and walked into the Village which took about 45 minutes and spent the day there. I loved this motel and hope to go back soon. I Highly recommend staying here.

Old school motel and cottages with lovely views of the St. Lawrence. Outdoor amenities included horseshoes, bocce and a fire pit. Pool was not open during our stay, but looked nice. The room featured new mattresses and cable TV. Walking distance to the local distillery for 21 & over. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

Rooms were dated. Maybe the old paneling can use a bright color to cheer up the place. Rooms are away from the great water views. Only some of the cottages have a view. Owner responsive but not overly friendly. Maybe he had enough of the season.

Nice place
The folks that own the place are great; super friendly both times we’ve stayed there! We stayed in the motel this time and the only complaint I have (in both the motel and the cottages) is that the bathrooms are just too cramped. The beds are very comfy though. It would also be nice if maybe the parking spots were labeled as well to avoid confusion over who has checked out and who hasn’t yet.

There wasn't much unique and the motel part was very odd. Beds were really high, very thin walls. Seems like a trailer made in to hotel units. Plus for the price, they were quite shabby. The cottages may be better. Nice view of water and a nice staircase down, but not for anyone with mobility issues. It's a trek in to town and nothing on site for food or entertainment. Very low budget for the cost. Couldn't swim in the pool it was full of leaves and stuff even though staff said it is skimmed regularly. Wouldn't recommend unless you are looking for the low budget cottage feel.

Hi Jana, I am so sorry you were disappointed with your stay at West Winds. Shabby rooms? You must have never stayed elsewhere in this area. Furniture and mattresses are brand new. We have NEVER claimed to offer entertainment, nor does any other motel in the area. Not sure why you would even think we would provide entertainment? Our prices are on point with everyone else in the area. The pool was in need of a cleaning, my one staff, does not know how to vacuum the pool so I did it Wednesday night. And my son had vacuumed it Tuesday morning! Not to mention there was rain and wind of 20mph for a few days straight. Not easy to keep an outdoor pool clean 24/7. Also, we are 2 miles from town, hardly a "trek". Next time you should stay in town at The Hotel for 300-400 a night, they may be more in line with your expectations.
