Our stay at Casa de Casal de Loivos exceeded all our expectations—and I say that in spite of some windy, rainy days! Bernardo was so gracious and helpful. Before we even arrived he was letting us know about road closures and provided directions for the best route. Upon arrival, our bags were brought in for us and he even volunteered to park our car. The complementary snack and wine were delicious and enjoyed in front of a cozy fireplace. Bernardo provided information for hiking, port and wine tastings and restaurants. They provided breakfast and we also chose to have the family style dinner in their dinning room two evenings—it was delicious and the service was impeccable. The common areas and the rooms were spotless and the beds and bedding so comfortable. The staff was always friendly and courteous. As you can tell, we would highly recommend staying at Casa de Casal Loivos! Thank you Bernardo for making our stay so memorable.

One cannot get a better view of the valley from any other place. Bernado, owner, is a great host and will provide great service and hospitality. The dinner they offer was very special, and took place in a private dining room..One cannot get better service in any 5 star hotel. Breakfast included was very good.

This is a magnificent property with majestic views and a wonderful host who cares deeply about his guests happiness and accommodates any request to the best of his ability. The property is charming and historic and overlooks an incredible valley and view of the Douro river. Highly recommended and hope to return one day !

Beautiful property with an incredible view. Bernardo and his team were very focused on making sure all guests were well taken care of. We enjoyed the optional evening group dinners quite a bit. This was one of the most friendly and quaint hotels we’ve ever stayed at. The view is absolutely breathtaking and the owner, Bernardo, could not be more hospitable! We loved the family-style dinners where we got to meet other guests from all around the world. There’s nothing bad about this place — it was glorious!

The view is stunning. Relaxing around the pool and taking in the view was a very pleasant way to enjoy the beauty of the Douro region. We had a lovely dinner sitting around the grand dining table and visiting with the other guests from around d the world. Driving there and parking is difficult, however. Best to take the boat or train to Pinhao and then take a taxi to the property.

Relax and Enjoy the Views
We had a wonderful stay at Casa de Casal de Loivos! The views from the terrace are unrivaled, and we loved sitting out with a glass of wine, while soaking up the sun and the gorgeous Douro Valley from high on the hilltop. We were able to walk down to town by way of the path through the vineyards. While the hike back up took a little more effort, it was very well worth it - especially when we were rewarded with a swim in the pool. We loved how quiet and relaxing it was to be nestled in the hills above the town.

The swimming pool overlooking the valley was stunning, though not heated, so rather cold. It is very difficult to find the property especially as there is no clear indication on the building. The receptionist was most unwelcoming, However the rest of the staff very friendly. We requested a twin room, but given a very small double.

Beautiful vineyard and Duoro Valley views
A home that has a extensive history, over the generations. It is part of a vineyard high in the hills with beautifu views of the Douro Valley. The house and contents have charm and staff ensure your every need is met. Wonderful to have the option of a home cooked Portugese meal and not have to drive out to eat. Our bedroom may not have been as luxurious as some B&B's but a lovely resisidece to stay in. Just be aware that the GPS may take you on a short cut up the mountain that is a 'goat track!"

Peaceful escape with the best views
This place is so incredibly special. It is absolutely gorgeous and cozy and peaceful and has unbelievable views overlooking the river, valley and vineyards. Maria takes SUCH good care of you and you can tell she wants you to have a relaxing, fun, beautiful, peaceful time. She is such a kind, warm, helpful person. The hotel is an absolutely gorgeous villa with wooden floors and antiques and large windows and French doors leading out onto maybe some of the best views we have ever experienced. We jumped in the beautiful pool, enjoyed hot showers and slept so incredibly well. We really enjoyed the delicious dinner and breakfast at the dining room with our fellow guests. Everything was so comfortable. There were lovely walks all around and even two quintas about 2 minutes walking distance. If you have a car, the parking is just right outside the door, and it is not a far drive up from Pinhao. We wish we could have stayed longer as we felt so relaxed. Thank you for everything, Maria!

This place is like heaven on Earth! Absolutely stunning views in every direction. The rooms are quaint and romantic. Maria was so kind and made us feel at home during our honeymoon stay. She really cares for her visitors. We joined another group for a family dinner at the B&B and met some amazing people while sipping port wine! We took our time and walked the vineyard and made our way down to Pinhao (40 min). This is a very special place and one we look forward to returning to!

This hotel is all about the view, which is spectacular. The house is lovely, though the guest rooms and bathrooms felt a bit tired. We were there during a heat wave and there is no air conditioning, which wasn't a surprise, but there were also no fans, other than one fan in the dining room, which was not effective. To not have fans in the guest rooms in an area that gets as hot as it does is pretty shocking at this price point. In addition, the towels were threadbare - embarrassing, really. And the sheets and bedding desperately needed a refresh. It felt more like you were staying at a friend's country house rather than a EUR 150/night hotel. We had also reserved dinner at the hotel. We enjoyed meeting the other guests and had some really interesting discussions, but the food was quite forgettable and the alcohol (not included in the dinner) surprisingly expensive. The breakfast, which was included, was the worst we had in all our travels that month. If you don't have a car, you can take a taxi from the train station, but beware that there's really nothing to do once you're there, apart from relax by the pool. So if it's not a nice day, you'd better have a good book. So if you have a car and want a spectacular view, it's an interesting option for a night. But overall, we felt it wasn't a great value given its drawbacks and wouldn't stay again.

The best was the view and the pool. Overall kind of bad service. You only had that hotel and a small cafe beside were you could buy something to eat, otherwise you had to drive down to pinhao. No air condition at the rooms... Got very hot at the night.

What a beautiful view
Wonderful place with beautiful views. It is an old house that has its own atmosphere. Breakfast was varied but similar every day. We didn't try dinner, but we were in the pool, which we can recommend.

Tolle Aussicht ins Dourotal von der Terrasse und vom Pool. Zimmer sauber, aber alte Einzelbetten könnten erneuert werden. Personal freundlich und hilfsbereit. Frühstück war sehr fein, Abendessen war Geschmackssache.
