Borobudur Temple*
Borobudur Temple is the world’s largest Buddhist monument, built in the 9th century during the Sailendra Dynasty. Located in Magelang, Central Java, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is shaped like a giant mandala with 9 stacked platforms. It features 2,672 detailed relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. The top level has 72 openwork stupas surrounding one large central dome. Visitors can walk through the temple’s three levels symbolizing the Buddhist cosmology: Kamadhatu - world of desire, Rupadhatu - world of forms, and Arupadhatu - formless world. It is most famous for its sunrise view with Mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu in the background.
PRAMBANAN TEMPLE
Prambanan Temple is a breathtaking 10th-century Hindu temple complex in Yogyakarta, Indonesia . Dedicated to the Trimurti gods (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva), it's a masterpiece of Javanese architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple complex features towering spires (up to 47 meters high), intricate carvings depicting Hindu epics like the Ramayana, and a rich history dating back to the Medang Kingdom. Visitors can explore the main temple, surrounding shrines, and enjoy traditional dance performances like the Ramayana ballet at night. Prambanan is a must-visit for history buffs, architecture fans, and anyone seeking cultural insights in Indonesia.
