Begin your day with a hike along the Kalitalang route to Mount Merapi. Enjoy the stunning scenery and get a closer view of the volcano crater. After your hike, visit the Royal Palace, home to the Sultan, and enjoy a gamelan percussion performance.
Next, head to the Tamansari Water Castle near Ngasem traditional market. Explore the site and visit the market, where you can have lunch and savor local flavors.
Finally, choose to end your day with an optional paragliding experience. Fly tandem with an experienced pilot and enjoy the aerial view. There are two paragliding locations in Yogyakarta: Watugupit/Parangtritis beach and Girisembung hill. Paragliding at Watugupit is available daily from December-April. Paragliding at Girisembung is scheduled every Friday, Saturday and Monday from January-December. Because paragliding at Girisembung is not available everyday, make sure your booking day is correct according to the schedule.
Paragliding from these two locations offer a very different aerial view. At Watugupit you will see the south sea and land directly on Parangtritis beach. Paragliding at Watugupit is typically done in the afternoon because tourists want the sunset view of the beach. Meanwhile, Paragliding at Girisembung offers the vast view of Menoreh hills that span for tens of kilometers and you will land directly in the middle of rice field. Because these two locations are not comparable and unique, you might want to try Paragliding at both destinations.
