Our adventure begins in Yerevan, where we will meet you at your hotel to ensure a comfortable and smooth start to the day. From there, we’ll embark on an unforgettable journey to the Armavir region, part of the fertile Ararat Valley, a land deeply intertwined with Armenia’s ancient history and winemaking traditions.
Our first destination is the iconic Echmiadzin Cathedral, the heart of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the oldest cathedral in the world, founded in 301 AD. As we pass through the historic Gates of Saint Trdates, you’ll feel the sacred atmosphere of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you’ll explore the Holy See, the Residence of the Armenian Catholicos, and the Treasury Museum, home to priceless religious artifacts. With our guide’s stories, you’ll uncover the profound significance of this site, often referred to as the “Armenian Vatican.”
Next, we’ll visit the Zvartnots Cathedral, another UNESCO-listed treasure. Although now in ruins, this 7th-century architectural wonder continues to inspire with its grandeur and elegance. As we wander through the remains, you’ll see ancient wine cellars, karases (clay amphorae), and other relics that reveal the site’s historical connection to Armenia’s winemaking heritage.
Midday, we’ll pause for lunch in a delightful setting that celebrates local art and crafts. Enjoy a meal rich in Armenian flavors, surrounded by the creative spirit of the region.
To conclude the day, we’ll head to one of our favorite wineries, where you’ll immerse yourself in the art of Armenian winemaking. Taste exceptional wines, enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, and soak in the joyous emotions this stop promises. Be warned: after this winery, you may not feel like doing much else for the evening!
After a day filled with history, culture, and breathtaking views, we’ll return to Yerevan, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Armenia’s heritage and hospitality.
