Turn your fantasy world into reality
Step into the enchanting world of creativity with our hands-on workshop, designed to spark the imaginations of both beginner and budding artist.
At our 80-minute workshop, you’ll be guided by our crew who will teach you the basic skills of the trade. Create real miniature environments and landscapes using recycled materials, for a setting in a fantasy movie scene and imagine what it’s like to be a practical effects artist!
Creating a diorama that feels like a real environment with believable elements, isn't as hard as you think. You need to be creative, yes, but our Unleashed crew will help you find your inner artist and teach you the skills you need to create your imaginary world.
First, you’ll be guided through a Wētā Workshop brief based on our original fantasy movie, the Age of the Ever-Clan, featured in our Tour. Next, it’s time to examine the movie scene to understand the miniature required, and then dive right into the techniques needed to bring that scene to life, including sculpting, flocking and painting.
Then finally, you’ll receive a Certificate of Creativity upon completion of the workshop.
Everything you need to create your fantasy world a truly believable environment will be provided. Our creative workshops cater to small groups to allow for one-on-one learning with our crew.

Step into the world of a practical effects artist and bring spine-chilling scenes to life at our Intro to Scars and Scrapes workshop.
Ever wondered how special effects artists make monstrous wounds look so ghastly, or make movie blood look terrifyingly like the real thing? Our Wētā Workshop Unleashed crew will guide you through the craft, teaching beginner tricks to create shockingly realistic prosthetics that will leave family and friends horrified!
Inspired by scenes from the faux horror movie Fauna, you’ll mix your own fake blood and learn how to sculpt, layer and colour a prosthetic to make it look blood-curdlingly real. With all materials provided and small class sizes, this hands-on workshop promises plenty of frightful fun as you master the art of basic special effects. Join us and create something that’s sure to get a scream!
Upon competition of the workshop, you’ll receive a Certificate of Creativity.
