Nestled in the lower valley of the river Inn, in the Tyrol region of Austria, the area has been the home of the famous glass crystal maker since the 19th century, when in 1895 Daniel Swarovski (1862–1956), a glass cutter from Jiřetín pod Bukovou in Bohemia, settled here to start the production of crystal jewellery. Wattens received market rights in 1895.
