Discover the story of Albania's capital on a 2-hour walk with a licensed local guide. Start in Skanderbeg Square, the heart of Tirana, with the National History Museum and the statue of the national hero Skanderbeg. Visit the Et'hem Bey Mosque, one of the city's oldest buildings, which survived the communist ban on religion.

Learn how Albanians lived under Enver Hoxha's regime as you pass Bunk'Art 2, a Cold War bunker turned museum, the House of Leaves, once the secret police's surveillance centre, and Postbllok, a memorial with a piece of the Berlin Wall. Walk through Blloku, the district once closed to ordinary Albanians and now full of cafés and bars, and see the villa where the dictator lived.

See the Pyramid of Tirana, built as a museum to Hoxha and now a youth tech centre, and St Paul's Cathedral, symbols of how the city has changed since 1991. Your guide shares personal stories along the way, plus tips on where to eat and what to see next. The tour ends at the Resurrection of Christ Orthodox Cathedral.
