What you can expect
The gathering is at Valdibora, the roundabout in front of the entrance to the old town of Rovinj. We are heading towards Pula, you can choose to board in Vodnjan or Bale. Pula, the largest city in Istria, is a rich cultural and historical center. Its sights, such as the arena, one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres, bear witness to different eras. In addition to the arena, there is the Temple of Augustus, the Arch of Sergius, the Forum, the Kastel, the remains of the early Christian basilica of Maria Formosa, and with additional tickets you can visit the Archaeological Museum and Zerostrasse (underground tunnels).
After visiting Pula, we travel towards Bale and Vodnjan.
Bale offers a charming historic center surrounded by vineyards and forests, a town dating back to the 9th century, stone-paved narrow streets, above which rise old buildings connected by vaults, preserves many stories. Casanova, a famous lover, also lived in one of the palaces. More than 400 species of butterflies live in this area. You will have the opportunity to look at a large number of remains of dinosaur bones found in this area.
Vodnjan, 10 km from Pula, is known for its multiculturalism and rich cultural heritage. The town dates back to the 1st century. There you can visit the highest bell tower in Istria, the parish church of St. Blaža with the largest collection of relics in Europe and the Collection of Holy Bodies, which consists of the relics of 300 saints (for which you need to book the day before, there is an additional charge). You will also visit the ethnographic museum of Bettica Palace, which dates back to the 14th century. The town is also known for the production of olive oil, honey and wine, as well as gastronomic specialties.
