What you can expect
Dive into the heart of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation on an immersive tour of Domaine des Louis, a story of winemaking passion passed down through the generations. Julien Dreveton, a young winemaker who has been established since the 2018 vintage, continues the work of his two great-great-grandfathers, both named “Louis,” who were already growing vines in the early 1900s.
On 5.5 hectares of organically certified vineyards, Julien carefully produces 4 exceptional vintages under the Crozes-Hermitage appellation: 2 elegant whites made from Marsanne and Roussanne, and 2 powerful reds made from 100% Syrah. Each bottle reflects a love of the land and respect for the winemaking traditions of the Northern Rhône Valley.
Guided tour of the vineyards
Explore the estate's plots and discover the exceptional terroir of the “Chassis,” the clay-sandy and stony alluvial soils of the Rhône that give the wines their unique character. Julien will explain his philosophy of sustainable land management, his organic practices and the importance of preserving this family heritage for future generations.
Cellar tour
Immerse yourself in the world of artisanal winemaking and discover the secrets of how the estate's wines are made. From the early-morning manual harvests to the aging methods in stainless steel vats, truncated concrete vats, and demi-muids, Julien will reveal each step to you: destemming, maceration, pumping over, cold fermentation, and aging. Learn about the technical choices that make the difference between the classic vintages and the Quintessence vintages.
Guided tasting of 4 vintages
Savor the wines of the winery, depending on availability and current vintages:
Crozes-Hermitage Blanc R&M: a harmonious blend of 75% Marsanne and 25% Roussanne. Golden color, rich and fresh nose, generous palate with beautiful liveliness.
Crozes-Hermitage Rouge S: 100% Syrah grown on stony alluvial soils. Aromas of fresh strawberry and spicy notes, with silky, delicate tannins. A flavorful and approachable wine.
Quintessence-S (red): a premium cuvée from 40-year-old vines. Intense purple color, complex nose of candied fruit, mocha, candied orange and coconut. Opulent and elegant on the palate. Aged for 10 months in demi-muids.
Quintessence-R (white): 100% Roussanne, vinified and aged entirely in demi-muids for 10 months. Intense golden color, powerful nose with notes of almonds, jasmine and cardamom. Rich and lively on the palate.
An authentic experience
This tour, lasting around 1 hour, offers you a full immersion into the daily life of a small, intimate winery. Julien passionately shares his expertise, his family history and his vision of environmentally friendly viticulture. A friendly and enriching experience for wine lovers as well as for those who are curious and wish to discover the secrets of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation in the prestigious Northern Rhône Valley.
