What you can expect

  • We'll take a sightseeing tour of the Udías Mines, which were the largest zinc and lead mining operation in Cantabria.
We'll gear up with overalls, helmets, and boots to go into the caves. Accompanied by an expert caving guide, we'll explore the galleries and tunnels, learning about the work carried out by the miners in search of minerals such as galena, sphalerite, cerussite, pyrolusite, and so on.
The Udías mines were in operation between 1853 and 1932. Throughout all those years, the miners worked hard to support their families. Did you know that these mines are part of Cantabria's mining heritage?
After an hour and a half exploring the mine's passageways, we'll head back outside and recharge our batteries with a lunch.
