What you can expect
The tour begins at Khor Virap Monastery – with the most breathtaking views of the Biblical Mt. Ararat. The monastery holds significant religious and historical importance - sight where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned and Christianity took its start in Armenia.
Azat Reservoir – a hidden gem surrounded by the mesmerizing rolling hills of Yeranos Mountains. Located in Ararat region, at an altitude of 1050 meters this site provides 360 views of amazing landscapes including views of both Mt Ararat and Aragats.
Next, the Pagan Temple of Garni - only standing Hellenistic pagan temple in the Caucasus Region, dating back to the first century AD - built as a temple to the sun god Mihr (Mithra). There is a well-preserved Roman bathhouse in the territory as well.
The Symphony of Stones is a stunning natural wonder, one of the most unique natural phenomenon in the world - created over millennia by volcanic activity and erosion.
Geghard Monastery or Ayrivank is an important architectural, historical and religious sight in Armenia. Most of the monastery is carved inside a rock combined with architecture of 4th to 10th centuries of Armenian Renaissance. Geghard Monastery is part of the UNESCO world Heritage sights together with the Upper Azat Valley.
During the tour you will also have the opportunity to get acquainted with the sacred cultural practice of the traditional bread making ceremony - baking Lavash in the Armenian Tonir. Lavash is also included in the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage of Armenia. This a a must-do when visiting Armenia, do not miss the chance!
