Discover the greenest side of Helsinki. Ride through seaside parks and woodland, explore Seurasaari on foot, share a Finnish vegetarian BBQ and visit a local sauna with your guide and a small group.
Meet beside Huopalahti Station, about 10 minutes by direct train from Helsinki Central Station, on the airport train route. Start in quiet, green surroundings away from the busy centre. You can leave your luggage in our storage during the tour.
Cycle along Huopalahti Bay and through Meilahti’s green spaces, including the Arboretum. Hear stories about Finnish nature, local history and everyday life.
On Seurasaari island, park the bikes for a guided walk among historic wooden buildings, woodland paths and coastal scenery. Look out for squirrels and birds, although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Gather for a Finnish vegetarian BBQ, with vegan choices available. Enjoy local flavours and conversation, and help with preparations if you wish. Contact us before booking about allergies or other dietary requirements so we can confirm what we can accommodate.
Continue past historic villas towards the sauna. Learn Finnish bathing customs and experience löyly, the warmth and steam created by pouring water over hot sauna stones. Admission and towels are included.
We often visit a larger local facility with separate sauna areas for men and women. The venue depends on availability. Sauna bathing is normally without swimwear. Swimming is possible on most tours, depending on the venue and conditions. Bring swimwear if you wish to swim. Ask before booking about privacy or changing facilities.
Return through Keskuspuisto, Helsinki’s Central Park, along forest paths enjoyed by locals.
Experience the seasons, from long summer days to crisp winter air and possible snowy scenery. In colder weather, the BBQ and sauna offer a welcome warming break.
Expect approximately 15 km of cycling in three sections of around 5 km, with walking and breaks. You must confidently balance, brake, use gears and ride uphill. This is not a cycling lesson.
Regular and electric bikes are available at no extra charge. Request an electric bike immediately after booking; availability and a suitable fit must be confirmed. Ask before booking about bike sizes or individual support needs.
Enjoy a lighthearted quiz with a small Finnish themed prize. Solo travellers are welcome: we run even with one guest and do not cancel because the group is too small.
Our small team includes local bicycle guides and environmental activists. The owner has completed SYKLI training in sustainable development and responsible tourism. We are taking part in Visit Finland’s Sustainable Travel Finland programme. We respect nature, neighbours and everyday Helsinki life.
