Begin your experience at the meeting point in the village, where your guide welcomes the group and shares a brief introduction about the rainforest ecosystem and the wildlife that inhabits the region. From there, continue toward the protected forest of the Parque Nacional Tortuguero.
Once inside the park, follow sections of the El Gavilán Trail, a path surrounded by dense tropical vegetation where the forest canopy creates a shaded corridor full of sounds and movement. This trail is an excellent place to begin spotting wildlife, as many birds, monkeys, and reptiles move through the surrounding trees.
Continue toward the Jaguar Trail, one of the most recognized paths in the park. As you walk deeper into the rainforest, your guide helps identify different species of plants and animals while explaining how this ecosystem functions and why Tortuguero is considered one of the most biodiverse regions in Costa Rica.
Walking these trails allows you to experience the rainforest from within, observing details that are impossible to notice from a boat. From insects hidden among the leaves to monkeys moving high in the canopy, every step offers new opportunities to discover the incredible diversity of the tropical forest.
Throughout the walk, the pace remains relaxed, allowing time to observe wildlife, take photos, and appreciate the natural surroundings before returning to the starting point in Tortuguero.
