What you can expect

The guided tour of Turin will be a walk through the historic center where you can admire the main monuments, palaces, churches and historical places of a city to be discovered. It starts from the Porta Palatina, one of the oldest monuments in Turin and one of the four entrances to the city in Roman times with the bronze statues of the emperors Caesar Augustus and Julius Caesar. Nearby we pass through one of the three commercial galleries covered by shining windows, the Galleria Subalpina, built in the 19th century that recalls the typical Parisian “passages” with cafes and restaurants; in our tour we will also visit Galleria Umberto I and San Federico.

We continue with the visit of the Cathedral dedicated to San Giovanni, patron saint of the city, in Renaissance style and famous for the Chapel of the Shroud, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a masterpiece of Baroque architecture by Guarini which houses the Holy Shroud (the shroud in which the body would have been covered of Jesus in the sepulcher) behind his altar and visible only during public exhibitions as it is a very delicate relic.

With our walk we arrive in Piazza Castello, one of the most beautiful squares that hosts several sites such as the majestic Palazzo Reale, home of the royals of Italy until the 19th century, the Royal Theater among the most important Italian opera houses, Palazzo Madama which was seat of the Subalpine Senate with its beautiful Baroque facade and the Royal Church of San Lorenzo which we will visit inside; this church in Baroque style and the work of Guarini was built by the Savoy family in the 1600s and housed the Holy Shroud as soon as it arrived in Turin.

We continue our tour by exploring another historic square, Piazza San Carlo, the “living room” of Turin with its elegant arcades full of cafes, pastry shops and restaurants where you can taste typical foods and the famous Gianduiotti chocolates, with the equestrian statue of Emanuele Filiberto , Duke of Savoy, and the two twin churches of Santa Cristina and San Carlo Borromeo. Walking through the streets of the historic center of Turin we discover externally the Egyptian Museum, one of the largest and richest Egyptian museums in the world and the Palazzo Carignano, a historic building with its majestic architecture that today houses the Museum of Italian Resurgence and was the seat of the first parliament of the Kingdom of Italy.

The guided tour ends by discovering externally the symbolic monument of Turin, the magnificent Mole Antonelliana visible throughout the city, a unique structure of its kind that mixes various styles and houses one of the main museums of Turin, the National Cinema Museum.
