This aqueduct, commonly called Aqueduto dos Pegões, is a monumental 16th–17th-century structure built to bring water to the nearby Convent of Christ. It stretches around 6–7 km with around 180 arches and reaches up to about 30 m high over the Vale dos Pegões.

The Houses of the Three Little Shepherds are located in the small village of Aljustrel, near Fátima, and offer a glimpse into the simple rural life of the children who witnessed the apparitions in 1917: Lúcia dos Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto.

A visit to the Sanctuary of Fátima, in central Portugal, is a meaningful experience for both pilgrims and visitors interested in history, faith, and architecture. One of the most important Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world, the sanctuary commemorates the apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1917 to three shepherd children. The vast sanctuary complex includes the Chapel of the Apparitions, built on the exact spot where the apparitions occurred and considered the spiritual heart of Fátima. Nearby stands the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, where the tombs of the three children—Lúcia, Francisco, and Jacinta—are located. On the opposite side of the esplanade is the modern Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, notable for its contemporary design and large capacity.
