What you can expect
Discover the two extreme faces of Tokyo—the futuristic and the historic—on this fascinating 4-hour guided tour.
teamLab Borderless (The Future):
Your journey begins at Azabudai Hills, Tokyo's newest landmark. We enter the world of teamLab Borderless, a “mapless” museum where art moves freely. You will have a guaranteed 2 hours to immerse yourself in this mind-bending digital universe. Wander through the “Light Sculpture” series and the “Infinite Crystal World,” becoming part of the artwork itself. The Transition:
After stimulating your senses with modern technology, we take a short subway ride (or taxi) to the center of Japan's history.Imperial Palace & East Gardens (The History):
We arrive at the Imperial Palace, the residence of the Emperor and the former site of Edo Castle, the greatest fortress of the Samurai Shoguns.
First, we visit the iconic Nijubashi Bridge for a classic photo against the backdrop of the palace watchtower. Then, we enter the East Gardens (Higashi-Gyoen). Here, you will walk among the massive stone walls of the old castle, climb the ruins of the main keep (Tenshudai), and stroll through a beautiful traditional Japanese garden (Ninomaru). Your guide will share the dramatic history of the Samurai era that contrasts sharply with the digital world you just left.
The tour concludes at Otemachi/Tokyo Station area, leaving you with a deep appreciation for how Tokyo bridges its past and future.
(Note: The East Gardens are closed on Mondays and Fridays. On these days, we will explore the Outer Gardens, Nijubashi Bridge, and the Sakuradamon Gate area instead).
