What you can expect
In the quiet early morning hours of Sumida, you’ll step into one of the most sacred realms of Japanese culture: the world of sumo. The tour begins at Narihira Park, where your guide provides an essential introduction to sumo history, rules, and etiquette to prepare you for the experience.
A short walk brings you to an active sumo stable. Experience the raw power of bodies clashing and the intense atmosphere of professional training—a sight typically closed to the public.
Inside the stable, we offer flexible seating to ensure your comfort. You can choose to sit on traditional floor cushions (Zabuton) in the front row for an immersive experience, or use the stools available at the back if you prefer not to sit on the floor. We want everyone to enjoy the practice at their own pace.
[Exclusive Interaction]
After the practice, you’ll have the rare opportunity to directly talk to the sumo wrestlers and take commemorative photos together. Through our guide, you can ask about their daily lives, training, or their mindset as athletes. Capturing a photo with these powerful athletes and sharing a conversation** creates a personal connection and an unforgettable cultural exchange that goes far beyond just watching from a distance.
[Special Closing & Souvenirs]
Next, we will return to the park for a special closing session. You will receive an official “Banzuke” (sumo ranking sheet) inside a specially designed souvenir folder—a perfect memento of your deep dive into the sumo world.
Instead of a rushed meal, we provide a “Deep Q&A” time at the park. Your guide will stay to answer any burning questions about sumo traditions or provide personalized tips for your Tokyo trip. We wrap up around 11:00 AM, leaving you perfectly positioned to explore the nearby Tokyo Skytree or Asakusa area.
