[Hakubi Kyoto Kimono Gakuin, Kashiwa School] A professional kimono dresser will assist each participant in wearing a kimono appropriate for the season, following proper etiquette. A kimono, a hadajuban undershirt, tabi socks, zori sandals, and a drawstring bag will be provided.

[Sumo training quarters] Step into the Kashiwa Sumo Training Quarters and witness practitioners of all ages, from children to adults, demonstrating their discipline and skill. This prestigious dojo has produced sekitori wrestlers, including the most recent Grand Sumo Championship winner, offering a unique glimpse into Japan’s rich sumo tradition.

[Someya Family Residence] At the Someya Family Residence, participants will enjoy a variety of cultural experiences, including a visit to the nearby Katori Shrine. You will travel by rickshaw from the Someya Family Residence to the Katori Shrineand back, experiencing a scenic and traditional form of travel. During your visit to the residence, you will discover the interior of a historic Edo-period house, participate in a traditional tea ceremony, and savor a delightful lunch featuring rice cooked in a Kamado stove, accompanied by miso soup and pickles. Throughout the tour, your guide will provide context and explanations about the area’s rich heritage.

[Ioji Temple] At Ioji Temple, the participants will learn the etiquette of incense burning, practice chanting Buddhist prayers to the rhythm of the mokugyo (wooden drum), and listen to a sermon delivered by the head priest. A guide will also present the temple’s key features, providing deeper insight into its history and cultural significance.

Michinoeki Shonan Road Station

[Shonan Roadside Station] Visitors can purchase original products from Chiba Prefecture and Kashiwa City. They can also enjoy unique sweets made with local ingredients, like peanuts and turnips, which represent the best of this region.
