What you can expect

  • ★★★★★ “Our kids are 6, 9, and 11, and they loved searching through the streets for little mysteries.” — verified guest review, family of five from the USA

Not just an Asakusa sightseeing tour.
This is a mission adventure where your child becomes the hero.

Through playful missions, simple Japanese words, and real interaction with a local Japanese child, your child takes home what photos can't capture — the confidence that says “I did it. In a foreign country.”

Designed for families with children ages 5 and up. Your guide is Rie, a former Japanese elementary school teacher who also works as an intercultural kindergarten instructor. She is joined by her 11-year-old son, who becomes your child's local kid buddy for the day.

Meet Rie and her son in Asakusa. Receive a simple mission card and get ready for a day of fun and exploration.

Start with a photo mission at Kaminarimon, where you'll take a family photo in front of the big red lantern. Your child will look for the famous lantern and try a simple Japanese greeting, such as “konnichiwa.”

Next, head to Nakamise Street for a scavenger hunt. Search for items like a lucky charm, red lantern, traditional snack, kimono/yukata pattern, Japanese character, or small festival design. This activity is flexible depending on the crowds.

Look up at the Hozomon Gate to find the giant straw sandals (o-waraji) — a surprise even most Tokyo locals miss. A perfect photo moment.

Continue to the Senso-ji Temple area for a cultural mission. Learn temple manners in simple English, including how to bow, offer a coin, put your hands together quietly, and make a small wish or say thank you.

Experience the incense smoke at Senso-ji, a traditional custom where visitors gently wave the smoke toward themselves. Then, draw an omikuji fortune and learn its meaning. If the result is not good, tie it and leave the bad luck behind.

Find the five-story pagoda, count the levels, and take a photo nearby. Then, try a small shopping challenge at a dagashi shop or snack shop. With a small budget included for each child, choose snacks within the budget and try saying “kore kudasai” or “arigato.”

End with a small completion moment, such as a final photo or “Asakusa Kids Mission Completed” card if available.

This private tour adjusts to your child's pace, age, mood, and energy. While your child leads the mission, parents become the cheering team — taking photos, watching the adventure unfold, and asking Rie about Japan, family travel, culture, school life, or simple Japanese.

If you would like to extend your family time in Asakusa, please ask in advance. Depending on the day and availability, Rie may be able to suggest optional add-ons such as lunch, goldfish scooping, mochi pounding, or other family-friendly local activities. These are not included in the standard tour and require extra cost.
