Most travelers see Tigre from the window of a sightseeing boat.
That’s beautiful — but it only scratches the surface.
This experience is different. It’s for travelers who want to connect — to slow down, share stories, and taste Argentina from the inside.
Tigre is one train ride away from Retiro Station (about 15 blocks from Obelisco). The train takes approximately 60 min, or about 30 min by Uber (depending on traffic) at a cost of around USD16
I’m Nelson, and I’ll be your host, guide, and cook for the day.
You don’t need to speak Spanish to enjoy the day — I’m not fully bilingual, but we’ll understand each other easily. There’s phone signal if you need translator, though smiles, food, and wine usually say it all.
At 10:00 AM sharp, we’ll board the same boat locals take to reach their island homes. (Please arrive by 9:40 AM; there’s a McDonald’s and restrooms nearby.) The ride itself is an experience — calm rivers, floating houses, and a glimpse into daily island life that few visitors ever see.
When we arrive, we’ll take a relaxed walk (30min) through my island neighborhood. There are no cars here, only paths and boats. I’ll show you how people live, build, and move with the tides — a slower rhythm that’s hard to imagine until you feel it.
It’s also possible to come by water taxi to skip the walk, for an additional cost
Our destination is my family’s private quincho, a space reserved for meals with friends. This is not a restaurant — it’s our place, and today, it’s yours too.
I’ll prepare a six-course Argentine asado over wood fire: local cuts, and premium wines.
