What you can expect

  • The National Museum of Oman is the Sultanate’s flagship cultural landmark, offering a captivating journey through Oman’s history from the earliest human settlements to the present day. Through expertly curated galleries, rare artefacts, and immersive digital experiences, the Museum celebrates Oman’s rich cultural identity while promoting global cultural exchange, education, and innovation.
Ideally located in the heart of Muscat, the Museum stands in a majestic, palace-inspired building facing Al Alam Palace along the ceremonial boulevard. Covering 13,700 square meters, it features 14 permanent galleries dedicated to archaeology, maritime heritage, Islamic art, architecture, and traditional Omani life, as well as a dedicated space for temporary exhibitions.
With over 7,000 objects on display, the Museum offers interactive experiences, a UHD cinema, discovery areas for children, and advanced conservation facilities. It is fully accessible and the first museum in the Middle East to adopt Arabic Braille for visually impaired visitors. A unique open-plan storage area allows guests to discover how artefacts are preserved, making the National Museum of Oman an enriching and memorable experience for all visitors.
